Better Late than Never

April 13, 2021

WHEN: 04/07/2021
QIC: Coxswain
PAX: Fresh Prince, Spot, Frozen Peas, Chowdah, Sodapopinski, Happy Trees, Tater Tot, Blanch, Green Egg, Larry Legend, 1 or 2 people I can’t remember (the danger of drafting the backblast 6 days after the Q)

Weeks ago YHC signed up to Q Hurricanrana. Having never Q’d in North Durham, he made the classic mistake of “I think I remember that Hurricanrana is a Thursday AO so rather than taking 47 seconds right now to verify that assumption, instead I will toss it on my calendar and confirm the day later.”  You don’t have to try too hard to guess the ending of this story.

Fortunately this story has a second act! To alleviate his shame and pay his penance to the North Durham faithful, YHC put his name down for the next available slot on the Hurricanrana Q sheet – April 7th. After quintuple checking the date, YHC was ready.

Like the friend who always says he “might show up” to your social invitations then delivers with a 50% hit rate, YHC’s 4/7 Q surely (he assumes) stirred up a sense of suspense and suspicion among the Hurricanrana regulars – “will he or won’t he show up this time?” Fortunately, and after only 2 wrong turns on the dark North Durham roads, YHC found the AO with 3 minutes to spare. One brief self-congratulatory back pat later, YHC exited his vehicle pleased that all expectations were already exceeded.

With that ridiculous and unnecessary abrogation of responsibility out of the way, onto the workout!
