Bet On Yourself

September 22, 2017

WHEN: 09/22/2017
QIC: My Little Pony
PAX: Driftwood, Sonar, Knope, Barksdale, Loonie, Slow Pitch, Amphibious, Bushwood, Cooter, Sweater Vest, 2-Ply, Peppermint Patty, MLP, The Exchange (EC only)

5 brave souls got in an EC 5k. Everyone else trickled in and had 13 PAX ready to roll for a beta test Q that YHC imagined to be both challenging and entertaining.

Warm-up

Seal Jack x 20 (IC)

WM x 10 (IC)

WMH x 10 (IC)

IW x 15 (IC)

LBAC x 10 (IC)

Reverse x (IC)

We were headed to the bottom of the BFH but stopped at the Man Maker Factory for a quick round of:

BTTW (:60)

People’s Chair (:60)

I-beam Pull-ups x 10

At the bottom of the hill all PAX lined up in a straight line across the drive at the speed limit sign.  One by one each PAX was challenged to Beat On Yourself, which went like this:

YHC calls an exercise

Designated PAX will sprint to the top of BFH, touch the parking gate and sprint back to the PAX

Here’s the catch: before runner takes off, he has to say how many reps of the called exercise he thinks the PAX can complete before he gets back.  The only intel the PAX were given was that YHC ran one scout mission and clocked in at :40 to reach the top of the hill.

If PAX are unable to complete runner’s called number of reps, runner re-joins the group and the next man is up.

But if PAX finish the called number of reps before runner returns, then the runner has to rinse and repeat.

In other words – how fast can you run up and back down this BFH?

Called exercise included: Sumo Squats, SSH, Merkins, Diamond Merkins, Jump Lunge, LBC, WWII, Hillbilly, Cadre Bushwood Flutters, Peter Parkers, Burpees x 2, Carolina Dry Docks, Bear Crawl out and back, and maybe another one or two.

It would have been easy for everyone to just call out “1,000” when it was their turn, but T-claps to all the PAX for setting the numbers at a place that challenged both the PAX and themselves.

We had a number of close finishes, but only two unfortunate souls cut it a little too close.  Sweater Vest was bested by 50 speedy Peter Parkers (IC) and Cooter underestimated just how quickly Cadre Bushwood could grind the PAX to dust with 70 flutter kicks (IC).  The highlight of the day was the look on Cooter’s face when returning to learn that his original call of 80 flutters would have made him victorious, but Bushwood’s heckling convinced him to lower it to 70 and cost him another trek of the BFH.

After every PAX completed their bet, we mosey’d back to the parking lot for COT.

Thanks to all who came up and gave this dumb idea some life this morning.  It turned out to be a lot of fun with some high level mumblechatter and a quality workout mixed in.
