Bear Sightings in Downtown Durham pt. 2

August 24, 2018

WHEN: 08/23/2018
QIC: SalPal
PAX: Funny Money, Weenie Roast, Crabcake, Coxswain, Cool J, Banana Split

Few things chase off bears faster than bricks. So, armed with some bricks, YHC and 6 other PAX set forth in the gloom of downtown Durham to deal with the local bear infestation. The results were satisfying, if demanding.

Warmup:

20x SSH
10x IW
10x WMH
15x Merkins
15x Mountain Climbers
12x LBACs and Reverse

The Thang:

PAX all picked up two bricks for a short mosey around Durham. It also served as a nice, passive bicep workout during the run. We made our way to the footpath for some downhill Bears and Blocks: PAX would place the bricks forward, crawl until the bricks were at their feet, then move them again until they were at their head. We continued until we got to the bottom of the hill.

We continued our mosey to the Farmer’s Market pavilion for a modified Bearway to Heaven: bearcrawl to the line, burpees, then crawlbear back to the baseline. We only did 4, 3, and 2  burpees at three lines.

Short mosey to a nearby wall for a modified wall circuit:

10 second Ring of Fire People’s Chair
10 second Ring of Fire BTTW
10x modified Air Squared (held bricks for overhead claps)
10x Aussie Mountain Climbers

Moseyed back to the footpath hill for Blocks and Bears; we did the complete reverse, crawl-bearing up the hill, and moving the bricks from head to feet as we moved on up.

Mosey back to AO for an actual 7 minutes of Mary:

20x Flying V’s
20x LBCs
20x Freddie Mercuries
20x flutters
20x heels to heaven
20x second superman Ring of Fire

COT: Funny Money reminded the group about the Blue Ridge Relay, still looking for members. Prayer requests for Banana Split’s friend and Cool J’s mother.
