A Surly Double Dora

October 23, 2019

WHEN: 10/21/2019
QIC: Mothman
PAX: Brotox, GTL, Rambler, Boyardee, Jinx, Paper Jam, Griswald, Schmear, Bright Idea, Nitro, Chum, Splashback, Yanni, Bump Draft, Stubbs, Cricket, Marky Mark, and Mothman.

It was a beautiful Monday morning in the neighborhood. It had rained the previous day. The air was crisp. As I pulled out of my driveway I felt a sense of happiness and confidence that only a fall rain can bring. As I pulled into the parking lot of #thethicket I realized I was running a bit late. Today, was the kick-off of our new 5:30AM start time. As I approached a large number of PAX already circled up and ready to go Chum pointed out that I was coming in hotter than Duplo to a … well, I guess an F3 workout. There were a few other comments directed toward me about the upcoming workout as we prepared for the warm-up. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it was a sign that the PAX were restless, maybe even slightly cranky from losing that additional 15 minutes of sleep. Unbeknownst to me, I had walked into a lions den of surliness that morning.

Warm-Up: 30 SSH, 20 WHM, Upon completion of the WMH members of the PAX questioned why we had not executed 30 WMH’s to match the count of our SSH’s. I thought to myself that this was going to be a long Q. We concluded the warm-up with 10 FWD Arm Circles, 10 REV Arm Circles, 10 Calf Stretches.

Main Event: Even though we had approximately 18 PAX at the start of the workout I felt it was a good idea to stay close in case anyone missed the notifications about our start time changing. I decided to call a DORA #1: 100 Merkins, 200 LBC’s, 300 Squats. Partner 1 would execute the exercise while Partner 2 would run the short loop of #thethicket parking lot. Given all of the positive comments from the PAX about the first DORA I felt is was necessary to embark on a second. DORA #2: 100 Flutter Kicks, 200 American Hammers, 300 LBC’s.

Marry: Ring of Fire Merkens

BOM: Thank you for allowing me to lead today. Make the most of your time with your family. Have a safe rest of the week.
