A Musical Tour of Downtown Durham

September 21, 2018

WHEN: 09/21/2018
QIC: SalPal
PAX: Dial Up (EC only), Screech, Larry Legend, Richard Simmons, Wilson Wilson, Bleuth, Crabcake, Green Egg, Happy Trees, Roach, Banana Split, Bitcoin, Happy Gilmore

EC Ruck this morning attended by Happy Gilmore and Dial Up. Dial had to leave right after, but Happy stuck around to see what the Honey Badger had to offer this week.

YHC has been combing through his Spotify account this week, and he realized he had yet to do something he’d been thinking about for quite some time: a musical workout! Pulling together a few F3 classics, and adding in a few of my own, YHC led 13 PAX down the gloomy streets of downtown Durham, and wake up residents and PAX alike with some sweet sweet pushup action.

Warmup:

  • 15 SSH
  • 15 merkins
  • 15 LBAC and reverse
  • 10 WMH

Stage One – Durham Night Scene

  • Location: Intersection of East Chapel Hill and Foster
  • Notable landmarks: Pour Taproom, and Durham Hotel, both fun watering holes for the Durham nightlife.
  • Song: Get Lucky by Daft Punk
  • In celebration of those that try to “get lucky” with Durham’s drinking scene, we did a merkin for every time the word “lucky” was sung.

Stage Two – Foodie Tour

  • Location: Intersection of Main and East Chapel Hill, on the plaza across from Bull McCabes
  • Notable landmarks: Toast, Former Dame’s Chicken and Waffles, Taberna Tapas, Bull McCabes, and the Viceroy (where YHC had taken a certain special someone on a first date).
  • Song: Cupid Shuffle by Cupid
  • In recognition of all the couples that have gotten to know one another better amongst the restaurants of Durham:
    • Assume plank position.
    • Every time they say left/right, move in plank position accordingly.
    • Every time they say kick, do mountain climbers.
    • Every time they say down, do a merkin.

Stage Three – DPAC Parking Lot

  • Act 1: A Lazy Dora of 100 merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 squats. Try to finish everything with a partner by the time “Non-Stop” from the smash hit Hamilton was finished playing. A few groups came close but no cigar.
  • Intermission: Find some curb
  • Act 2: I believed we had a little more in us, so we did some curb-side Wheel of Merkin to “I Believe” from Book of Mormon. Every time the word “believe” came up, we rotated for the merkin.

Mary:

  • 25 Flutters
  • 25 LBCs
  • 25 Bicycles
  • 15 Hammers

COT and Announcements:

  • Knope is organizing F3 Baseball, details on the baseball slackline. Game is Oct. 6th at 3 pm.
  • Happy Gilmore reminding men to take care of their bodies.
