A Little help from Jack..

So upon waking up Wednesday morning I thought it would be just another typical day, starting off with a little bit of a run followed by a proper beatdown at the House of Pain. Little did I know that in about 30 minutes I was going to be in charge of the Premier Wednesday workout. I had no idea what I was going to do. But then it hit me. Much like spending the holiday season with my family, I was gonna need a little help from Jack…

The Warmup
SSH x 25
WMH x 10
Mtn Climbers x 10
Slow Merkin x 10
Good Mornings x 10

The Thang
Not really sure what I should do, I reached back into an old bag of tricks. A devious plan that Grunge and I devised for the Bull but never got completely through. Some mean Jack Webbs.
1st round
Doing 1/4 count exercises going up to 5/20 then back down, we did a pyramid of burpees and monkey humpers. Upon completion of the pyramid, we grab some steel and headed toward the islands. We stopped at each island doing 10 curls, then worked our way back down doing the same.
2nd round
Same method But this time it was squats followed by lunges (lunge with both legs counted as 1). Once that pyramid was done we grabbed the steel again and headed back to the islands, doing 10 Johnny dramas at each one. All the way up, then all the way back down.
3rd round
This round would be Jack Webb’s with Merkins and mountain climbers (in cadence count). Then we grab the steel And headed back to each island to do 10 tri-presses on the way up and on the way back down.
4th round
The last pyramid consisted of WWIs and LBCs. Because you got to work those abs. Then one last trip to each island with the steel where we did 10 bent rows at each island.
We return the steel to its home and circled up for a little Mary. Chachi led us in a rousing round of flutter kicks. Then we all followed that with a ring of fire of Hi/low plank, five count.
COT
Everyone was already planning for the Bull next Halloween, make sure to mark your calendar.
YHC led us out, thankful for the ability to lead and be among this great group of misguided misfits.

On a serious note, even though this group is great at busting balls and giving each other grief, at its core is a group of men that will stand behind each other. We should always remember that even though we might be good on our own, we are even better when we are together. This group has not just taught me how to push myself physically, but how to be a better man by looking out for my fellow brothers. As they have looked out for me. When one of us is in need it’s amazing how many are quick to come to their aid. That to me is something much more than just a workout group, or guys that like to push each other. That to me shows family. A common cause to better each other in different ways. That’s pretty special. Even though I didn’t have a workout in mind and I’m constantly worrying that I will not be able to fill the time on short notice, it was my pleasure to jump in for somebody that has jumped in multiple times for many of us. 4 years ago I couldn’t have imagined doing that but this “thing” has empowered and inspired me to have the strength and ability to do it now. That’s pretty cool. And I thank you all for that gift.

But don’t think for a minute Doogie doesn’t owe me big…
