January 21st. YHC’s birthday + MLK Day + the first of 3 scheduled Qs this week in the Northern Province = Epic Q. That was my thinking here is how it went…

Warm-up

It was cold, real cold. YHC thought some hills would warm the pax up and it did. 3 jogs up and down the hill left some Pax breathing hard so that was a good sign a warm-up was more than achieved. Per tradition we then moseyed to the traffic circle for some more traditional warm-up exercises:

SSH 20x IC
Mtn Climber 10x IC
WMH 10x
Squat Hold

The Thang

We divided the pax up into teams of 3 and moseyed to the park. There were 5 stations each with a different exercise waiting on the Pax. Pretty standard stuff. However, this needed to be something special. For the first time in the Northern Province, one of the stations was pulling and pushing a car. Happy Birthday!

Stations: each pax team did 2 rounds of the following

Pull YHC’s manly Nissan Versa hatchback, the tow strap was locked and loaded (this was also the timer for all groups)
Pull-ups
Kettlebell merkins
Burpees
Sandbag hold/presses depending on the sandbag

Fingers frozen and mumble chatter trying to warm the air, the Pax moseyed back to the traffic circle for some ring of fire to heat things up! This proved to be very effective.

Staying in the parking circle we transitioned into some great awkward moments together. As the cars started to pass around the traffic circle, we put on the following show:

YHC was honored to have some F3 Raleigh Pax members from Brier Creek visiting and for all coming out to enjoy a special birthday Q. It’s always an honor having the opportunity to lead. It’s humbling to have fellow pax member travel a little longer, a little colder, to show their support. YHC was inspired and 4 Pax enjoyed some of Hillsborough’s finest at the 24hr Waffle House. It was indeed an epic day.
