MAIN EVENT
The Pax counted off into two teams. Then YHC broke out the official F3 card deck. It was time to play the card classic: war (or at least a modified version of war). Here's how it worked:
One Pax from each team ran to the deck (which was placed between the two teams), grabbed the top card, and then led the opposing team through the reps and exercise indicated on the card. If one team finished its exercises before the other, it completed side shuffle hops until the second team finished its reps. If both Pax pulled the same card, it was time for war! War means that both teams had to complete the number of burpees matching the card number pulled by both Pax.
The workout concluded with 5 minutes of stretching: hamstrings, hip flexors, and chest/shoulders.
RANDOM NOTES
– Despite running a similar workout yesterday (i.e. spending an entire workout shuffling the cards), multiple wars were had in short succession, including one war of aces. Rather than doing 100 burpees, this was modified to 11 burpees since aces are often given the value of 1 or 11 in card games.
– Team 1 seemed to pull more cardio/traveling cards (run, bear crawl, etc.) while Team 2 seemed to pull more core/ab cards.
– Both teams seemed to despise SSHs by the end.
– Bear crawling on the Jag's parking lot without gloves sucked.
– Team 1 often had 2-3 rep counts going for any given exercises. Green Acres' occasional alternative cadence counts may or may not have contributed to this.
– To Green Acres' credit, he made the very good point that this game needs some sort of scoring system to determine a winning team. And ideas are welcome. For this iteration, however, the cards won and the Pax lost.
COT
In partnership with F3 Suncoast (Sarasota) and F3 Island Coast (Fort Myers), we are trying to raise funds to support Hurricane Ian victims by donating money to the Harry Chapin Food Bank and Feeding Tampa Bay. Our goal is to have 100 Churham Pax donate to one of these food banks before the end of October. After you donate, please note your participation in the #ian_recovery channel so we can track our progress toward our 100 Pax goal.
