The Work is Ours

June 8, 2017

WHEN: 06/08/2017
QIC: Sweats
PAX: Sweats, Kia, Shake-It, Cardiac

2 men did something called a super burpee for extra credit, which I”m told is a burpee and a pull up.Sounds exhausting. 2 more showed up for the ME. Shake-It tried to apologize for being sick. We told him that he was here, and thus nothing to apologize for. You show up and do the work, you enter an apology-free zone. What”s not even funny is that Shake-It is still cruising to victory on his 1,108,389er workout of the year. What”s not even funnier is that regardless of which workout we were on, we were all there this morning, and we were putting in that work, irrespective of who was watching, paying little attention to how many PAX were in attendance. The work is yours and yours alone, and it is up to you as to what to do with it. Squander it with bad decisions after? Let it serve as an excuse for reasons not to do other important things? Or do we let it catalyze new development and momentum towards greater goals? In fact, here are two good questions for everybody: how hard do you work when no one is watching, and how accurately do you count if everyone is keeping track? This AM, with four strong representing the nation at Herndon Park, there was a lovely chill in the air – strange for this time of year – and it kickstarted a nice workout for us under a violet sunrise.
Round 1: 10 pull ups, bear crawl two lights around the peanut, then 20 jump lunges each leg, followed by run around the peanut, 10 more pull ups.
Round 2: All the same except for bunny hops replace bear crawls, and 30 jump squats replace jump lunges.
Round 3: All the same except backwards run replaces bunny hops, and 15 burpees replace jump lunges.
Then we did 3 rounds of the following: 20, 15, and 10 swerkins while partner dead hangs. On the last round, partner dead hanged while holding at the chin for as long as possible.
Mosey to the field for a full-field partner wheelbarrow. It”s up to you and your partner to get to the other side. Always a doozy.
End with the following: 15, 20, and 25 reps of dips and box jumps, followed by People”s Chair and BTTW after each round.
End with 25 flutter kicks, 25 H2H, and 25 Russian Hammers for Mary.
