11 ambitious PAX tackled the infamous Lone Pine hill for 2 cycles in the early AM humidity.
Weary legs from the prior weekend”s Memorial Day Murph Challenge were immediately apparent but the hills beckoned just days before AuJus & others tackle their upcoming Spartan Race. Lone Pine was enhanced with 25 merkins at the top (x3) before heading back to the start for the ME.
EC totals: 4 miles. 75 merkins. 2 cycles on Lone Pine.

The Thang
Given that today is the final day of May and our fearless CSAUP Q, Doogie had declared May to be stair climb month, YHC decided we should climb some stairs. The goal: hit as many parking decks around campus while climbing to the stairs to the top, then capping off with 10 merkins for each flight ascended.
The PAX launched from the OEC back up the hill towards Raleigh Rd. and hooked a hard left on Ridge Rd.
1st deck = Ram”s Head where we climbed 3 flights back up to the top: 30 merkins.
PAX traveled through campus next to Kenan and across Manning Drive.
2nd deck = Craige Deck greeted us with 8 recently-renovated flights: 80 merkins at the top
PAX traveled further up Manning Drive.
3rd deck = POB (Physicians Office Building) offered a warm & stuffy 6 flights to climb: 60 merkins
PAX traveled a quick 50 yards across the street.
4th deck = Dogwood Deck for 5 flights (10 merkins per flight as you climb): 50 merkins total.
By this time the clock indicated we had 9 minutes to return to the start. My mental speed is still much faster than my running speed… and therefore YHC owes the PAX 4 minutes back. Return time: 0634.
ME totals: 22 flights of stairs. 3 miles around Carolina. 270 merkins.
Editor”s note: When Prime Time was asked where his dad (Wheezer) was in our expedited COT, he wasted no time in responding with…”wheezing!” YHC & AuJus headed back out to pick him up at which time his official chauffeur (eldest 2.0; Psycho T) arrived to drive the Corley crew home.
