Not’cho NASCAR Luau!

April 24, 2017

WHEN: 04/24/2017
QIC: F3Churham
PAX: Wuerffel, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Homes, Zika, Eddie the Eagle, Pedro, Big Sky, Rudy, Bogey, Spooky and Major Payne

It was a cool rainy morning in the gloom this Monday and the PAX were excited for Nacho Libres” VQ, but alas, he had to tap out with promises to return another morning. It may have been sour bean and cheese nachos that took him down for the count — no one knows for sure — but YHC stepped in for a simple motorsport-themed beatdown that appropriately began under a big luau party tent. Why? Well because luaus and motorsports always go together!! Right!?! Maybe not, but it”d be great if they did!!

EC: Four hearty PAX – Eddie the Eagle, Bogey, Big Sky and YHC showed for the EC ruck – about two miles in the pouring rain. As they say in the Army though, if it ain”t rainin”, it ain”t trainin”! EtE received a nice surprise when the small “ruck” he borrowed turned out to be a sandbag stuffed into a military three-day assault pack. Waaayy heavier than it looks!

Warm up: 25 x SSH, 15 x Imperial Walkers, 15 x mountain climbers, 15 x Merkins IC, 10 x arm circles front, 10 x arm circles rear.

ME: Mosey to Scroggs Kiss and Ride for Jeff Gordon”s NASCAR Speedway! Partner up. PAX one runs a lap around the “speedway” and PAX two stays in the pit for exercises. First race – 50 x Burpees per team, Second race – 100 x Merkins, Third race – 150 x Body Weight Squats.

Then, it was time for some NHRA Bear crawl drag races! Each PAX Bear Crawls through a gauntlet of trees, stopping to “rest” with 5 x Merkins at each set of trees.

Mosey on to the famous opposing double Ds – Dips and Derkins walls – where the PAX first knocked out 15 x Dips IC, then across the street for 15 x Derkins. Rinse and Repeat. Not exactly sure how “Double Ds” fit into motorsports, but I”m sure they do somehow.

The journey continued to the Edgewater/Graylyn Playground, where the PAX broke into groups and completed one set of either 10 x Pull-ups, 20 x Swing Set Ab Kickouts and 30 x Body Weight Squats. Staying in the motor race theme, this would have been the demolition derby. Controlled Chaos.

Once all were ready, we continued the mosey to the Parkside Crescent hill and completed successive uphill “Funny Car” sprints back to the Pleasantville start point for a quick set of appropriate-to-theme 15 x Gas Pumps IC! Thanks to Wuerffel for the assist!

COT: Thanks for all coming out in the gloom! Well wishes for Nacho”s swift return! No Cougar Wednesday due to convergence at Rameses. YHC will be talking to Special Ops Survivor team (the organization that supports families of fallen Spec Ops personnel) today; more to follow about how we might be able to help them.
