After watching the commencement speech at the 300th graduating class given by the former CEO of Patagonia, Michael Cooke (a former SEAL himself), YHC was inspired to tailor today”s rain-soaked Devil”s Ridge workout to honor the best of the best. Plus, any chance to attempt anything remotely SEAL-related is reason enough. The 300th class of graduating SEALS included 39 graduates, so we incorporated that number into our warmup (& brief cooldown). The cold, rainy morning was perfect for a SEAL-themed beatdown.

The SEAL PST (Physical Screening Test) is the baseline test you must complete to even consider applying to become a SEAL.
- 500 yd swim
- Pushups (2 mins: AMRAP) – Min. 50
- Curlups (2 mins: AMRAP) – Min 50
- Pullups (not timed: AMRAP) – Min 10
- 1.5 mile run – Min. 12.30
Given the absence of a pool (but yet the prevalence of rain) we substituted the 500yd swim for a .3 mile (approx. 500yd) backwards run. We arrived at the parking deck and decided against seeking dry shelter while instead embracing the rain. Buddy up for the following:
- Pushups (2 mins AMRAP). Flapjack
- Curlups (2 mins AMRAP). Flapjack
In the absence of a nearby pullup station (more DR recon to be performed in the near future for this), pullups were assigned as homework (min 10; ideally 15) and we set off for our 1.5 mile run.
By the time we finished as a group, we”d hit our time – but there”s always time for a few more merkins. The PAX finished off with another set of single-count merkins (x39).
