Driving rain couldn”t keep 12 men away from a good time at the Cougar. Your Q was wondering why most F3 exercises only go up to ten. Wouldn”t it be, like, one better if they went to eleven?
Here”s what we did:
COP: Fellowship lap to warm up. A few WW2s and hand release merkins just to make sure everyone was nice and wet. Sets of 11 SSH, WMH, Imperial Walkers, and Arm Circles.
Hard quarter mile, plank until everyone is finished.
Spinal Tap Merkin Pyramid. It goes to 11.
Hard quarter mile, plank until everyone is finished.
To the benches for a few sets of 11 dips (the Q struggled with the count here a few times. Eleven is harder than 10).
Back to the track where Lt. Col. Gregory, who we prefer to call Major Payne, introduced us to Lt. Dan, an exercise consisting of one squat followed by four walking lunges. We did a ladder of these, meaning 1/4, 2/8, 3/12, etc., all the way up to 11 squats and 44 walking lunges. Usually Lt. Dans only go to 10. Ours go to 11.
To the field for some Jack Webbs, consisting of one merkin followed by four air presses. The merkin very quickly becomes the easier component of the Jack Webb and the air gets really heavy. We did a ladder up to (drum roll, please) 11. We had to skip a few numbers along the way though because time was running short.
Circle up for Mary: Sets of 11 Dollies, High Dollies, Dying Cockroaches, LBCs, Flutter Kicks. During the flutter kicks, as we were lying on our backs with buckets of rain coming down on us, one of the Pax described it as being waterboarded. That was funny.
F3 workouts in the rain are the best. Next time you are tempted to sleep in when you wake up and hear the rain coming down, get up and go. It”s fun.
Announcements: Major Payne makes his inaugural Q on Friday at Bastille, Fingers makes his on Monday at Pleasantville, and Turnpike makes his next Wednesday at the Cougar. Thanks for stepping up and Qing.
Yanni to send an e-mail to the gang with instructions on how to sign up to Q.
Best wishes for safe travels for the group of Carrboro High Students leaving for a school trip to New York.
Closing prayer.
