A Chilly 76 Degrees

July 22, 2019

WHEN: 07/22/2019
QIC: Tater Tot
PAX: Funny Money, Blanche, Shake-It, Happy Trees, Quilted Southern, Larry Legend, Prosecco, Tater Tot

You know, when the 0530 start time happens to be the coldest point of the day ahead, sometimes posting in the gloom can be quite challenging. Who wants to get up out of bed and go exercise in the dark? Buuuuuut – when the low is 76º and the day ahead looks like a heat index of +100º – the “Gloom” should get a special new F3 name cause it’s as good as it’s going to get boys…

Jolly Roger is off and running – Riverside High is a wonderful site – it’s got a lot of options – large flat parking lots, long straightaways, walls, stairs, a track that’s open sometimes, tennis courts, and all kinds of stuff we haven’t gotten into (tires, athletic fields, the mile loop around the campus). It was a joy to jump on the Q sheet at the first opening this week – YHC was looking forward to this morning activities.

8 PAX arrived ready to roll (pun intended). With North Durham’s own Soda Popinski leading his birthday Q at Devil’s Ridge, we probably had a few PAX head out to K-ville to celebrate – but we did welcome Funny Money from the Downtown Durham gang – sadly as the Q, YHC couldn’t get into the mumble chatter with him.

WARM UP

Good Mornings, Harvesters, Willie Mays Hayes, SSH, Imperial Walkers, Arm Circles
Mosey to the school entrance!

THE THANG

Let’s start with a Jack Webb!
1 >> 10 alternating Merkins and Air Press. We paused the 10 >> 1 for later (YHC had good intentions)

Move over to the big-a wall by the front door-
People’s Chair >> Donkey Kicks x 15 OYO >> People’s Chair >> BTTW >> People’s Chair

Mosey on over to the track and just check and see if we can get in (We couldn’t) – butt kickers and high knees to the lower straight away down by the river!

100 Yard Dash-es. Run from a predetermined storm drain to the corner of the practice soccer field/3rd light post and back.

8’s on the Flat – we shortened the distance a bit and did 1 burpee, run to the other end, 8 Carolina Dry-Docks, then 7 and 2, 6 and 3, etc. Most PAX got to the final few rounds before we had to end it early for the sake of time.

Ricky Bobby back to the parking lot. Great work by the PAX to mosey up the hill as a group – solid pace on the lonnnnnng slow steady climb.

Find some shade in the grass near the parking lot and bust out a shortened Merkin Pyramid – from 1 to 5 and 5 to 1.

MARY

LBCs, Freddy Mercury’s, Flutters and we are out.
