This morning arrived at the normal time, as I checked the weather, I noticed a Slack Message.  Going to bed early, I sometimes wake up to a notification, but its usually an @channel alert.  This morning, quite the contrary.  It was a message from Doogie, he was under the weather and asked me to take the helm.  I jumped at the opportunity, responded back, then got to work on the Q.  The morning wasn’t much for creativity, and I recalled a relatively new PAX, that will remain nameless, mentioning the previous week that he should do a VQ.  Thus inspiration for the morning.

At 0530, 18 PAX joined me in the gloom of election day at the precinct.

Warm Up

SSH x 24

Good Mornings x 12

Imperial Walkers x 12

WMH x 12

Warm Up Lap around the  northern half of Forest Hills Park, opposite of our normal runs.  The word went out the previous night to the PAX that they should Park in the lot by the tennis courts or on E. Forest Hills Dr. to avoid the congestion on voting day in the normal lot.  We started by running through the courts, through the new lot, up E. Forest Hills Blvd, to W. Forest Hills Blvd.  ending on the Court.  We stopped briefly at the intersection of Forestview for a quick round of Porta John Chinooks x 12 and Reverse PJCs x 12.

The Thang

On the courts holding a plank, YHC explained what was in store.  Since part of the mission of F3 is to develop leaders, everyone was going to have a chance to lead today.  Starting at the sideline of Court 1, each PAX in turn was going to call out one exercise, the reps, and the method of transportation to the other sideline of court 4.  There was a variety of exercises called out including Burpees (a couple times), Merkins, Squats, People’s Chair, BTTW, Peter Parkers/Parker Peters.  The methods of travel for each included sprints, backwards sprints, frog jumps, crab walks, etc.  I don’t recall all of the exercises or methods of travel, but I do recall that I was relieved when after the first 13 PAX, that it was time for Mary.

Mary

We circled up on the courts for the last 6 PAX to call out Mary.  As mentioned above, I don’t recall the last exercises, but it was a relief at 0615.

COT

The Belts and Backpacks effort led by Soybean was called out, check Slack for more information.

No prayer requests.

YHC took us out.

NMS

The PAX all did a great job this morning on calling the exercises.  Several opted to call cadence count and some did OYO.  It was a strong showing, one that told me each of the PAX that haven’t yet Qed, are ready to knock out the VQ, or at the very least Co-Q.  I recommend everyone gives it a try to perpetuate strong diversity in our workouts and to help us all grow.  If you are interested in taking on a Q, let me or any of the other guys that you’ve appreciated having as a Q know, we’d be happy to help you out.
