Ahhh Christmas traditions. It’s what brings us together and if you think about it you don’t really have to put a whole lot of thought into it. You eat the same meal every year, argue with the same people, make the same drive, sing the same songs and if you’re like me make the same resolutions. The 12 Days of Christmas workout is one of those traditions and as the Q you really don’t have to put a lot of thought into it. Sure the people change but the workout is the same and it’s led by the other PAX so the main role for the Q here is just to keep everyone moving in the same direction. I got all the HCs I needed the night before so the exercises could be doled out early and all I had to do was watch it unfold.

The workout was originally conceived by Dunphy and this is the fourth year I’ve had a chance to run it and it always seems so simple and yet in the end is just crushing. The boys in BC embraced it wholeheartedly and their singing was awesome af!

The Thang:
Don’t move! Stay in the COP and follow instructions. Since we were doing the 12 Days of Christmas the men were told they were required to sing and that not singing would result in penalty burpees. Needless to say it was an easy choice. The workout is simple…do the first exercise. Then do the second exercise and the first exercise. Then do the third exercise, second exercise and first exercise. All exercises are to be done in cadence (or at least they started that way). Here’s how it happened.

First Day of Christmas (ALL) – Lap around the parking lot (1.6 miles total)
Second Day of Christmas (Bright Idea) – Diamond merkins (22 total)
Third Day of Christmas (RGIII) – Hand release merkins (30 total)
Fourth Day of Christmas (Link) – Wide grip merkins (36 total)
Fifth Day of Christmas (Zook) – Perfect merkins (40 total)
Sixth Day of Christmas (Flenderson) – Jump lunges (42 total)
Seventh Day of Christmas (Boyardee) – Christmas dry docks (42 total)
Eight Day of Christmas (Green Acres) – Monkey humpers (40 total)
Ninth Day of Christmas (Chum) – Plank shoulder taps (36 total)
Tenth Day of Christmas (Commodore) – WWIIs (30 total)
Eleventh Day of Christmas (Germ) – Plank jacks (22 total)
Twelfth Day of Christmas (Fieri) – Double merkin burpees (12 total)

If you’ve never had the pleasure of a workout with the boys of BC you are really missing something. What they have built down there is outstanding. You just can’t start your day any better than spending a morning with those men. The leadership that is shown from starting the AOs, taking the reins as SiteQs and everyone stepping up to lead the workout.

I wish you boys a safe and Merry Christmas.
