08/23/2022 The Piranha – FREEDOM!!! And Stockholm Syndrome.

August 23, 2022

WHEN: 08/23/2022
QIC: Hutz
PAX: Scapula, Pallino, Floyd, Swamp, Awesome Baby, Cardiac, Crash Cart, Weed N Feed, Knope, Geppetto, Castaway, Thirstay, Kia, Lone Ranger, Wreck It Ralph, Young Man, Fiddlestick, Count Chocula
ME HEADCOUNT: 19

The Piranha is where it all began for YHC back in January when Castaway and Cherry Baked EH'd me on New Year's Day, drawing me in with the smell of smoked meats as I wandered the mean streets of Audubon Park looking for direction. Both direction in the cosmic sense and direction as in which direction do I need to direct my mouth towards to get that brisket in my belly. I posted for the first time on January 4 at the Piranha and now it's come full circle with my first Q at the Piranha, the friendliest AO in Churham.

Before Warmarama, I did a quick run around the AO to make sure the cinderblocks, the picnic tables, and the basketball court were still there. Contrary to my dream last night where everything disappeared and my Q plan went to mush, all of the aforementioned were still exactly in their right place. On to the workout!

MAIN EVENT
We did a Ricky Bobby from startex to the basketball courts. As we reached the basketball courts in the foggy gloom, a lone car was parked in the grass with its lights on next to the basketball court. I don't know exactly what it was doing there, but it drove away as soon as it saw us Ricky Bobbying our way down the dirt road. I can't say for sure what it was doing, but I have seen my fair share of Cheech and Chong films and this looked vaguely familiar to scenes from those cinematic masterpieces. After the car drove away, we had to refocus because I had a Q to attend to and it was out of my jurisdiction, anyway.

We gather on the basketball court. On this day in 1305, William Wallace was executed for treason for leading Scottish forces against the English. In honor of William Wallace, we did 13 merkins and 5 burpees on each corner of the basketball court with different modes of transportation between each corner: Bear Crawl, Lunge Walk, Crawl Bear, Reverse Lunge Walk.
After the first round, Floyd gave us a 10 count with a "FREEDOM!!" peppered in. Since freedom has two syllables, we did it all over again.
After the second round, Nope gave us a 10 count and peppered in quite a few "FREEDOM!!!"s and really rallied the troops.

We moseyed over to the picnic tables and everyone grabbed a spot. On this day in 1978, Kobe Bryant was born. During his career, he wore two numbers: 8 and 24. Because it was Kobe's birthday, we did the following:
24 Dips
24 Ierkins
24 Derkins
Swamp gave us a 10 count that explored a vast array of numbers, very few of them actually being in order from 10 to 1.
8 Dips
8 Ierkins
8 Derkins

We moseyed over to the lower parking lot and grabbed the coupons. On this day in 1973, four people were taken hostage during a botched bank robbery. They were held captive for six days. After being released, they refused to testify against their captors and the phrase "Stockholm Syndrome" was coined. For the four hostages, we did two rounds of four exercises.
Round 1
20 Overhead Presses
20 Curls
20 Goblet Squats
20 Plank Jacks
Cardiac gave us the fastest 10 count of all time with a quick "Freedom" slipped in.
Round 2
20 Rows
20 Curls
20 Goblet Squats
20 Mountain Climbers

At this point, I started hearing some mumble chatter about some Stockholm Syndrome infiltrating the PAX. This was the perfect time for Mary and we moseyed over to startex. By perfect time, I mean 6:10am.

MARY
Count Chocula demonstrated the solstice burpee and we did 5 in cadence.
23 LBCs
23 Flutterkicks
And we ended with a Floyd Plank ring of fire.

COT
Floyd and Scapula, with some prompting by Knope, let the group know about exciting things happening in F3 Churham. The Bull is set for October 29 at 7am. Sign up to participate, sign up to lead, and grab a shirt! This is the last week of the Triple Play. Post all three days this week and let's end on a high note. Iron PAX also starts next week. Sign up because the region that has the most PAX sign up gets to design a workout next year and we can't let those Seattle guys keep winning and designing ridiculous workouts with their lattes and rainy days and grunge music.

Sending our prayers to Cosmo as he recovers from his hip surgery. Everyone here in F3 SoDu is wishing for a speedy recovery and for Cosmo to be back in the gloom soon. It's only been two days and we miss him already. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but we're all looking forward to his glorious return. Aye!
