So, about two months ago, I decided that it was time for me and shark tank to move on from being the site qs at Paradise. In a perfect site q world, there is a site q and a co-q who sortof rotate on and off of leading the site. I have been at Paradise about 18 months and Greenie rotated off about halfway through 2022 when he found out baby 3 was on the way. My timing maybe a little off but the idea was on the 6 year anniversary we would pass on the shovel flag to the 2 new site qs of spooky and attaboy.
The day finally arrived and I reached out to all the former and current site qs and asked them to lead 6 minutes for each of the 6 years paradise has been around. I had to do some digging and snooping but when I got adolphus to commit, we were ready for a great celebration. I wrote this poem to set the stage but here is the exercise and backblast.
Adolphus led us in some warm-up and exercises of the (Shark Tank) patented adolphus merkins, split squats and Big Boy situps. I was so happy to have the original site q be able to join us and of course he pushed us all during his Warmarama and 6 minutes of main event. As a side note, I always love how Adolphus works with people and groups and his qs are something special. He welcomed our FNG and still pushed all of us as well as gave us a little history lesson on the site.
Next up was Nacho Libre. He led us into the parking lot where we did some Bear Crawls and squats to the back of the parking lot.
Green Acres led the next section where we split in 3s. 1 group started with the Australian merkins. 1 group did people's chair. The third group did Balls to the Wall. The timer was the People's chair each Pax count to 10. This was repeated until all Pax got through all 3 stations.
Next was Shark Tank. He led us over to the covered walkway and the brick pillars. We did a partner pyramid of crabwalk and air presses and dips starting with 2s and increasing by 2s up to 10 and back down.
Finally, I led us back to the back of the parking lot where the blocks are. I wanted to have a little more time but I had enough time to play Paradise City and get through about half of the vices devices. The timer was the deadlift of the 100lb sandbag. They had to lift it 6 times for each year while the other pax played and worked with vices devices. There were foam pads for prisoner squats in between the different pieces of upper body and big boy blocks.
Mary: We finished out with 10 dying cockroaches.
COT: This was a tough one. I loved the work we did here. There were some prayers for family members and Mueller just lost his dad. We named our FNG – the noid and it was an absolutely perfect. I shed a few tears of appreciation and I wrote the following poem. What a special day and a special time.
Farewell to the place I once called my own,
Where laughter and memories were made and known.
The AO that once held my heart and my dreams,
Where pax were sweating like silent streams.
I'm leaving the job that I loved with my soul,
The one that was more than just a weekly goal.
It's hard to say goodbye to all who’ve my respect earned,
To paradise faithful, I’m thankful for all the lessons learned.
The many hours and all the Ec options I never missed,
The challenges we faced, the goals we achieved together with bliss.
I'll miss the buzz of the lights, the ringing alarms,
The energy that filled the air, the workouts, the qs all filled with charm.
But it's time for me to move on, to grow and to thrive,
To get up and get going without my cowboy coffee to help me come alive.
Although my time here has come to an end,
The memories I've made, I'll cherish and tend.
So I bid farewell and I’m super sad to go,
But thanks to the pax and friends who helped me grow.
I'll miss the good times, but I'll keep them close by,
As I embark on a new journey and I say this with a tearful goodbye.
I’ll be back whenever you’ll have me and I’m so proud of all we’ve done.
