Welcome to the opening day of the Durham Bulls season!  In honor of opening day, the workout was planned literally around the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP).  Here’s how it went down:

Warm Up

30 SSH

15 Imperial Walkers

12 WMH

15 Hillbillies

Mosey to DBAP

The Thang

At the main entrance to the park, we assembled for a round of exercises for the catchers.

5o Air Squats

42 Side Lunges

42 Step Ups

50 Rocky Balboas

Mosey to the Outfield gate, via the 1st base line.

Once we got inside the park, it was on to the pitchers workout.  YHC explained to the PAX that pitchers are always trying new things, so we tried the Super Duper Cooler x 10 each side followed by 20 Box Jumps.

We then moseyed along the outfield fence to the big stairwell by the “Hit Bull Win Steak” sign.  At the bottom of the stairs we did a Jacob’s ladder that started with a run to the top of the top, and 5 Plank Destroyers, then at the bottom did 1 Bulgarian Split Squat. Each time we climbed the stairs the number of Plank Destroyers went down by one, the split squats went up by one.  Each round totaled 6.

Before we could do the hitter’s exercises, time was up, and we had to head back to the site.

During the mosey back, we stopped for one Mary Exercise at Major the Bull.

Today’s workout plan began a few weeks ago, knowing it was opening day for the Bulls.  I was a bit overzealous about the workout today, and really planned enough for another three workouts (one for pitchers, one for fielders and one for hitters).  As I planned though, I didn’t budget for enough time to run to the park.  Like my beloved Detroit Tigers, it wasn’t my best performance.  I do appreciate the three other PAX that joined me in the gloom. We clocked in at right around 3 miles for our run, thanks for sticking it out  with me.
