Three Acts at Kenan

July 1, 2019

WHEN: 07/01/2019
QIC: Shooter
PAX: Champ, Boucher, My Little Pony, Prancing Horse, Uzi, Gordo, Appomattox, Strudel, Far Side, Vandalay, Foghorn Leghorn, The Stroud, Blackball, Dogwood.

A spirited group of 15 PAX gathered at sunrise for our regular Monday Kenan beatdown and were greeted by a bright pink sun to the east. After a warm-up of SSH x 20, squats x 10, Willie Mays Hays x 10, merkins x 10 and Carolina dry docks x 10, we made our way to the east and toward all the color.

Sadly upon arrival at Hooker Field, most of the color had dissipated and we were left with nothing but warm, sultry air to suck for 45 minutes.

            Act I: The Escalator

Starting in the southwestern corner of the massive field that spans four soccer fields, we did 10 SSH. Then we ran halfway along the southern boundary, stopped and repeated the SSH and added 10 merkins. Then to the corner, repeated those and added 10 Carolina dry docks. And so around the field, adding in succession squats, jump lunges and finishing at the sixth station with 10 double-merkin burpees.

            Act II: Usain Bolts

We lined up on the western boundary of Hooker Fields and each PAX ran halfway across (the width of two soccer fields) and back, calling out an exercise for the group to do while he ran. Among those (YHC’s brain too feeble to remember all) were LBCs, mountain climbers, flutters, plank jacks, burpees, Russian hammers.

            Act III: Shooter’s Hill

We migrated across the new soccer stadium to the ramp dubbed “Shooter’s Hill” only to find four heathens pushing 45-pound plates up and down. They were kind enough to stand down long enough for us to run five laps up the incline and down the steps.

We polished it off with Six Minutes of Mary and called it day.

            Great work by all.
