This Isn’t The Afterburn

July 21, 2017

WHEN: 07/21/2017
QIC: Shake It
PAX: Peach, Cooter, Juco, Elf, Peppermint Pattie, Sweater Vest, Shake It, Prancing Horse, Doogie, Ricky Bobby, 2 Ply, Misery, Marta, The Snowman, Amphibious, Bushwood, PBR, Foot Fault, The Exchange, Panini, The Strowd

8 PAX showed up for EC so Cooter could make men out of us.  There were KB’s, buckets, a body bag (thx Peppermint Patty), and of course the I-beam.  YHC was a few minutes late, so the group didn’t have to suffer through his Taylor Swift Spotify playlist.

0530 hit with 21 PAX ready to go on a Falcon field trip.  In my search for the Master Q, this was anything but masterful.

Warm-Up:  All exercises done in cadence

  • Seal Claps x 20
  • WMH x 10
  • Pivot lunges x 10
  • Burp Jacks x 10

The Thang:

Now that the legs are properly loosened up, it’s time to start the journey.  We leave the AO heading down Garrett, left on Hope Valley, and a right on Woodcroft.  Brief stop for 10 burpees at the corner.

Continue along Woodcroft until we hit the railing. Here we did 20 dips IC, 15 bulgarian squats on each leg, and 20 derkins.

We continued on our journey down through the Woodcroft Swim & Tennis Club and along the Powerline Trail to stop at the rock garden.

Flashback to YHC’s first ever Q, a little bit of rock PT. 20 bent-over rows, 20 alternating shoulder presses, and 20 front squats.

Rocks down and we jog to the Highgate crossing.  Hill run to Rollingwood and 10 burpees at the top.  Wow that was more tiring than anticipated.  Luckily, there was a giant hill looming on the other side of the road.  Sprint to the top of the Power Line Hill and complete another 10 burpees.  We were all sucking wind, but luckily with 11 minutes to get back, it was time for the long jog home.

PAX got pretty strung out on the run back.  Peach and his bandits at the front of the pack may have made it back at 0615, but the rest of us were not so lucky.  As we circled in the parking lot we were still waiting on four more to arrive.  With YHC’s lack of time management some of the guys left to return home.  Peach and Misery went to go pick up the final four, not knowing that Doogie was leading them on a short cut through Garrett Road Park.  After COT, Peach and Misery returned and all PAX were accounted for.

Mary:

If loud deep breaths with backs bent and hands on hips is a core exercise than we accomplished Mary.  Otherwise, didn’t happen.

COT:

  • Approximately a week left to get your shirt orders in
  • 2nd F next Thursday

Moleskin:

My apologies for not getting us back by 615 and for getting us so strung out.  This was my first time taking on a traveling Q, and I think there’s a lot of lessons to be learned to be able to do this more successfully sometime in the distant future.  The PAX had such an amazing attitude and I was extremely thankful for your grace.  Big shout out to Doogie for running with the six, something I should have done, and to Peach and Misery for going back to grab everyone.
