The Santa’s Sleigh Mile Slog!

December 21, 2017

WHEN: 12/21/2017
QIC: Griswold
PAX: Bean Bag, Chef Tell, Rambler

This morning was the last AMRAP before Christmas, and since Christmas is YHC’s favorite holiday, a special workout had to be brought out. Before that workout, 3 PAX embarked on a 45-minute ruck in the BC gloom, with a 40lb sandbag for a coupon. This was YHC’s first ruck, and it was awesome.

Post EC 4 PAX prepared for the AMRAP Christmas Extravaganza.

The Warm-up:
The Slow Squat – IC x 10
WMH – IC
The Slow Merkin – IC x 10

The Thang:
This workout was all about getting into the holiday spirit. YHC provided the sled, Rambler provided the Christmas lights, and Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin provided the tunes.

  • All 4 PAX donned some “holiday weight” in the form of varying weighted vests and rucks ranging from 20-30/40lbs.
  • All carried the holiday weight for the duration of the workout.
  • The original plan was to push the sled for ½ mile. Each PAX would push until exhaustion and then rotate until ½ mile was covered. This challenge was exceeded quickly, so the goal was pushed to 1 full mile.
  • The journey began with a push in the Woods parking lot, which then ran down the road and across Andrews Store Road to the open field. Once there, distance was covered at a blistering pace and 1 mile became attainable.
  • In a shade under 45 minutes, 4 PAX covered a bit over 1 mile terminating back in the parking lot.
  • Teamwork, determination and good cheer drove the work this morning, and the original goal was double through will and determination, not to mention a little help from the Rat Pack.

Announcements:

  • Tuesday 12/26 after the Rabbit will be a coupon ruck lead by Rambler. YHC is a little hazy on the details as that was a long mile, but YHC believes the goal was something like 10 miles. Check with Rambler for details, come for some or come for all.
  • FIA coming to BC:  Saturday 1/6 – 8:15AM – Tell the M’s.

COT:
YHC wanted to share a short holiday message. This time of year lets all make sure to remember our family and friends not just near us, but the ones we wont see. Let’s also remember those we know that don’t have that family to be with this time of year, as it can be tough. Lastly, we can all continue to be thankful for a great opportunity to stay grounded in our days and in our lives through the foundation that F3 provides not just in fitness, but the other F’s as well.
