The Five Hundred

We can certainly use some rain in the Triangle area so it was actually fun to venture out in a steady, warm drizzle at 0545 Monday at Kenan Stadium. TB invited FNG Kenny G, who was properly indoctrinated with a Campus Tour which YHC has been host for frequently over five years.

The Thang:

Warmup SSH x 20, Squats x 10, Willie Mays Hays x 10, Arm Circles forward and back x 10 each, Merkins x 10, Carolina Dry Docks x 10, Mountain Climbers x 10.

This morning’s protocol is dubbed “The Five Hundred”—meaning the PAX do 500 reps across campus broken into five different exercises.

The rotation was 10 Dips, 10 Squats, 10 Derkins, 10 CDD and 10 Parker Peters executed at 10 different stations across campus. We varied each exercise, at times doing four-stop Dips or Derkins; wide-grip and Diamond Derkins; step-ups and split-squats in place of standard squats.

And the venues included the Bell Tower, Wilson Library, Carroll Hall, South Building, Manning Hall, back to Wilson Library, Kenan Football Center (two cycles) and Gate Three at Kenan Stadium.

At the end it was hard to know which the PAX were more doused by—sweat or rain. No matter. It was a outstanding start to the week. It gets easier from here.
