The Big Dance, New Tuesday Durham AO Beta Test, Solite Park, Act IV

September 27, 2016

WHEN: 09/27/2016
QIC: Sweats
PAX: Floyd, Falwell, Boucher

305 Merkins (varieties included below), 150 squats, 100 dips, 55 burpees, and 50 flutter kicks. These are the final tallies of our workout this morning at Solite Park, though we performed each exercise within variations on elevens. If you don”t think this sounds difficult, ask our triceps. YHC dialed up some upper body madness this AM as he is still gingerly testing the wheels after the Spartan UB injury. All told, it feels great to be back!
If Solite matched in variety what the ingress/egress to/from the park from Fayetteville Road presented in treachery, we would be in fine environs for our new AO. The park offers ample parking, lots of picnic tables, a BTTW/People”s Chair structure, and big fields. With proximity to 1) the ATT 2) two elementary schools, it certainly warranted a look. However, the deal breakers for YHC are as follows: no place for pull ups or dead hangs; limited blacktop/tennis court action; darkness everywhere but the main parking area; and some pretty treacherous travel to the nearby elementary schools, in my opinion.
Forest Hills Park offers plenty of dead hangs/pull up possibilities, gigantic tennis courts, large fields, and some hilly terrain on quiet streets nearby that we could use if we got the hankerin”. On balance, I would say my conviction is pretty jello firm that Forest Hills Park is Durham”s new home for good on Tuesday morning.

Prayers to all PAX to stay healthy. We also spent a moment chatting about what F3 means to us (it means a lot!).
Finally, we emphasized the importance of using your F3 network if you are ever in need. Rarely do you have access to a smart, engaged, and helpful network that can create access for you in ways you can”t effect on your own. Take advantage of what you have in F3. You”d be crazy not to do it!
