- Knope: Spring F3 Baseball Game, 3/14, 1500 @ Crest Street Park. Check #baseball channel on Slack for all the deets. (NOTE: AI has infiltrated Churham baseball as leadership has unanimously decided that machines do a far superior and significantly more efficient job of pitching than humans. Whatever, it is not like pitching was ever all that important a role in baseball anyways, right?)
- Knope: 2020 Q School is happening on 3/28, 1600 @ So Village. Plan is for a 1 1/2 hour workout. Great program for all Qs, whether you’ve been at it for years or just getting started.
- Elf/Knope: HIGHLY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Das Bull, Halloween, Blue Moon. Attendance mandatory.
- Juco: Gentle reminder (primarily to YHC) that merkins really aren’t on the menu at das Moosenlaufen. However, YHC saw past the facade and could tell that this was actually Juco’s plea for more merkins thus, YHC has made a mental note for his next visit.

Many words and stories have been shared about Kobe Bryant in the wake of the terrible tragedy that took his life and eight others on Sunday. Kobe is squarely in the top 5 on my personal list of heroes and this news shook me to my core. I try and live the Mamba Mentality in all that I do every day. I encourage anyone who is not familiar, go and learn about it. It is well worth your while.
I want to pay tribute to a man who I truly believe was not only one of the greatest athletes of our time, but more importantly, a great human being. One thing that I respected the most about Kobe is what an amazing and loving father he was to his four daughters. He has stated many, many times, that he is a proud #girldad. As a proud #girldad myself, I want to shine a light on one of Kobe’s favorite stories that he loved to share. It is about his 13 year old daughter and protege, Gianna, whose life was also tragically taken in that fateful helicopter crash this past weekend.
Many times when he and Gigi were out and about, fans would approach and they would say to him, “Hey, you need a son, Kobe!…You and Vanessa need a boy to carry on your legacy!!” They said this right in front of Gigi, who was a hugely talented basketball player – one that many experts believed possessed much of Kobe’s prowess and skill. Instead of shrinking back, Gigi would stand tall and tell these fans, “Nah, no need. I Got This.”
I love this. This fully embodies the Mamba Mentality. See, many times, this world has a way of disregarding or disrespecting you. It tries to find a way to make you invisible. It will try to make you small and insignificant. It will try and break you down. But, brothers, like Gigi, you can’t let it beat you. You need to rise up, stand tall, take up your inheritance, and proudly proclaim, “Hey, I Got This.”
Whatever it is…your job, your work, your relationships, your community, your place in humanity…your response should always be, “I Got This.” If it is not your response, perhaps you need to check yourself and ask why you think it is okay to live life taking tiny little sips when you should be pounding the sh*t out of it and guzzling it down instead. I want you all to know, each and every one of you, I believe in all of you. Dream big. Live big. You Got This.
