Sunday night brought the Super Blood Wolf Moon and freezing cold temperatures to Chapel Hill. By 0545 the red color had come and gone from the moon, but there was still a bright orb hovering over campus and Kenan Stadium to illuminate the proceedings as seven PAX bundled up in 18-degree temperatures.
Two PAX, My Little Pony and TB, met for EC at Tar Heel Warrior Mountain at 0500 to knock out several trips up the hill toward their 2019 Rameses Everest Challenge of 286 trips. ICYMI, My Little Pony conceived the challenge as way for local PAX to climb the equivalent of the 29,035 feet to the summit of Mt. Everest. YHC has bought in and tried to visit the site of the regular Wednesday morning Rameses workout at least a couple times a week for a workout of four to eight trips.
For the main event, seven PAX gathered at the North Gate at Kenan Stadium for a warm-up (SSH x 20, windmills x 10, squats x 10, arm circles forward and back x 10, merkins x 10, Carolina dry dock x 10), then we entered the stadium.
First up were 20 LBCs in the west concourse followed by 30 second bows-to-toes plank. Then we ran to the southwest corner of the concourse for 20 flutters and another plank. Then to the South Gate for 20 count erkins and derkins with the slope of the ground and 10 CDD.
From there we ran to the southeast corner to the benches for three sets of 20 dips and 10 step-ups L&R.
Next we made our way to the field where the moon hung brightly to the west for a Jacob’s Ladder running the stairs—six merkins at the top, one burpee at the bottom on the first trip, five merkins and two burpees and so on for six total runs of the stairs.
The final act in the stadium was running the field in Four Corners fashion with merkins and CCDs in each corner, adding one width of the field with the walking lunge rather than running.
And we capped it off with Mary back at the North Gate—V-ups, flutters, plank jackets and 10 burpees.
