YHC is not one to accept being unprepared… I’m a perfectionist, anal, maybe a bit OCD… As such I like to spend some time on my Qs. I think it’s the teacher in me that wants to develop something new, something interesting to keep engagement high (TBH you all are much better students than 16 year olds…). In the schoolyear, though, I don’t have as much time to drop a few hours on prepping a Q, so I tend to just Q a decent amount less so I can focus my energy on building rockstar lessons.

I’m steadily working on wrapping my head around the maxim that every lesson doesn’t have to be a lightshow… This is true in my own classroom, and it’s true in F3. Sometimes a marker and a white board is enough. Sometimes a lecture is just fine. Sometimes it’s not perfectly organized simulations that engage. I’m giving myself permission to accept simplicity and banality. Because we all need that from time to time. So let’s get to it, boys – weights, running, rotations – simple, brutal, effective – sometimes that’s all you need. Sometimes it’s simplicity and not complexity where rubber meets the road.

Kick the Tires:

Simple & Effective. Break into 5 groups – shooting to get through this twice – one group takes off in a pair – sprint around the track in opposite directions until they reach each other, tag, then run back – once they’re both back they’re done.

You and your partners? get on an exercise – one person starts the weighted activity (or pull ups)

  • Switch every 10 – Skull crusher 35# dumbell / alternate with dips
  • Switch every 20 – Thrusters – 35# dumbell / alternate with drydocks
  • Switch every 20- KB swings 35# cinder block / alternate with monkey humpers
  • Switch every 10- Pull ups/ alternate with bar rows
  • Switch every 20- Curls ?# ruck bricks/ alternate with sphinx pushups
  • Partner Lap around the school

Warm. Sweaty. Hot up in this joint.  Mosied to the parking lot (put weights back beside cars). Let’s see what we’ve got, boys. With 10 minutes to go – crawlbear up the Rashkis elementary entrance – call Mary at the top until all PAX are in… all PAX in with 5 to go – perfect. Let’s bring it home.

Light the Fires:

  • Plank/low planks/low plank peter parkers
    • 10 sec/10 sec/2 peter parkers
    • 10/15/4

Prayers out for Florence – check in with friends/family in coastal areas – be safe yourselves, and hope it’s not as bad as it looks. Be ready to help when calls for aid inevitably come.

Honored to lead, fam

Much love,
