5 conquered the pine & 3 rucked Everest for an EC warm-up.

12 answered the call for today’s ME. Today is National Girls and Women in Sports Day (declared by President Reagan in 1987) and as a proud father of 2 girls, YHC took that inspiration to lead the PAX through a series of great female athletic achievements this morning.

Warm-up

SSH x 30 (IC)

IW x 15 (IC)

WMH x 10 (IC)

Harvester x 10 (IC)

Slow Squat x 10 (IC)

Slow Merkin x 10 (IC)

First up, the female record for most consecutive push-ups (merkins) without leaving plank position (hands and feet remain on the ground – no knees, elbows, etc) is 808. Since we probably couldn’t get that done in 45 minutes, YHC decided to pull a page from the Blindside book. Bearcrawl the parking lot stopping at each line to do 3 merkins. Great homage as we maintained plank throughout and did what felt like 808 merkins.

Next up, mosey down to the picnic shelter for some dips. The female world record for consecutive dips (on parallel bars) is 66, so YHC called for 3 sets of 22 dips (IC) to commemorate. It was pointed out that this was actually double the record, but our feet were on the ground, so we had to throw in a little extra challenge to get our money’s worth. In between the sets of dips, YHC called a set of derkins and two sets of alternating leg step-ups.

Down the steps to the sand to tackle the female record for most consecutive pull-ups. Since the record is 48, we partnered up to make it more manageable. Each partner completes 24, switch as often as needed. Low Squat Hold while your partner is doing pull-ups. With only 3 bars available, that left 3 teams with nothing to do (astute observation by Appomattox) so those 3 teams bear crawled the sand while waiting for their turn on the bars. Flap jack and repeat.

Before heading back up we held plank and noted the women’s record plank hold is 3 hours and 31 minutes. We came up about 3 hours and 29 minutes short.

Head over to THWM for the final women’s record challenge. Female record for most burpees in one minute = 40. To honor how out of breathe that woman must have been, we broke up our 40 up into 4 sets of 10. One catch, the sets were completed alternatively at the bottom and the top of THWM. 2 full trips up and down for the Everest Challenge.

Prayers for Appomattox as he interviews for jobs and that he gets a great opportunity that fits his and his family’s plans soon.
