Temp was a frosty 31 degrees.

Seventeen pax circled up for a split Q (High Temp vs. Block Work) with Spooky and Vice.

1. Block Work with Vice:

The thang- We went and picked up blocks – one per pax.

In New Orleans style- we had some Professor Longhair playing and we did tabata style exercises through the following spelling.

N.- Nemo with the block- don’t let your hands off the block and flip-flop between, chest press, urkin and blockee. It’s a new favorite and once you get through the awkwardness, it gets the heart rate going,

O- Overhead press

L- Lunge out front and out to the side with the weight

O- Butt offs- this is something I made up and while in theory it should be easy but the triceps start to burn after about 15 seconds

V- V-ups with the weight

E- Elevated Homers- both legs, one leg up and one leg down

Rinse and repeat

Mardi-gras is known for its drunken debauchery on Bourbon street. So we did some bar crawls. These are squats with the block and block curls up to the lips and back down and twist the top off the next beer and do a 180, repeat facing the opposite direction. We did this about halfway across the parking lot and then we had to bar crawl back home to the start.

Time for circle-ups and making King Cakes. For us, we did a ring of squats and side lunges followed by 10- IC crab cakes.

2. High-Temp with Spooky

It was time to hit the hills to build our strength and endurance.

Hill One:

Jacobs ladder to 10 with candle-sticks at the top and squats at the bottom.

Pax were all sick of candle-sticks after this one. (Candle-stick is a reverse burpee where you lie down on your back and then roll forward and jump back to standing.)

Hill Two:

Starting from the bottom of the hill: Lunge walk with overhead press. Then every 20 lunges, stop for 20-seconds of AMRAP merkins. Pop back up and resume lunge walk with overhead press.  Repeat until you get to the top.

Goal – to see how many merkins you can do before reaching the top of the hill.

Hill Three:

Start at the bottom: triple jump traveling burpees to the top.

Finished in time for Mary. Mosey to the AO.  Started Foley flutter kicks while both groups reconvened.

Mary for everyone:

Mary- we got back in our circle and with J-Los movie coming out and the rediculous idea that a movie star would marry a Joe Schmoe- we did some A-rods. Though we discussed they probably should be called Ben Afflecks part twos- the pax did 2 pickle pounders combined with the J-Lo wobbles.

To close out our New Orleans theme, we did some Hurricane Hoedowns which is flutter kicks in four different positions, back flat, up on elbows, straight arms, sitting upright and arms overhead and walk back down.
