Overdoing it

YHC loves him some Eagle.  Tough to get back too often, as YHC is the co-site Q at Kenan, which is the same day and overlapping time (5:45 launch aKa Chapel Hill Time).  YHC hasn’t been able to get out for a work out in the past 10+ days due to a very busy work period and a hospitalization of one of YHC’s family members.  YHC had some pent up excitement/energy/aggression/??? and the PAX of the Eagle were going to help overdo it and get it out.

Warm-Up
YHC was ready to go with a solid crew and, being the 15th of the month, was going to use “15” as a base number for reps throughout the workout.

  • SSH IC x 15
  • IW IC x 15
  • 5 Burpees OYO (With PH arriving a moment late)
  • Arm Circles IC x 15 (Little/Big)
  • Reverse Arm Circles IC x 15 (Little/Big)
  • Michael Phelps IC x 15
  • Mountain Climbers IC x 15
  • Two other later arrivals got us two more sets of penalty burpees
  • 10 burpees OYO (Total of 15)

The Thang
We were going to get a little tour of the Creekside Grounds.  We started at the end of the parking lot near the School Building and counted of by threes to break up into three groups that performed the following in a rotating fashion – with the groups doing the AMRAP pullups serving as the timer.
Group 1 – AMRAP Pull ups
Group 2 – AMRAP Johnny Dramas.
Group 3 – AMRAP Burpees

We completed three cycles of each exercise and then moseyed to the front entrance way.

We used the short wall to complete three rounds of 15 slow count derkins countered with 15 cadence count dips.  We were feeling it!

We then did 100 single count Johnny Dramas on the curb…we walked it out then moseyed to the the front carpool entrance on Ephesus.

YHC threw some democracy in and gave the PAX the options to select the mode of travel in between light poles.
First light pole, we did 5 cadence count burpees.  Grampa Ninja wanted to bear crawl to the next light pole for 5 cadence count burpees and 5 in cadence tuck jumps (ugh!).  Prancing horse wanted to lunge walk to the next light.  Once we made it to the light pole, we did 5 cadence count burpees, 5 cadence count tuck jumps (double ugh!), and 5 Carolina Dry Docks.

That gave us 15 reps and we moseyed to the basketball court.

Once there we circled up and did a hand release merkin pyramid from 1 to 10 and back down again.

We then broke up into two teams of 6 and lined up against the wall.  Each PAX was to assume the BTTW position and in rotating fashion one PAX would Bear crawl to mid-court, then crawl bear back and get in the People’s Chair.  Then the next PAX would go until the last PAX completed the circuit.  The team that had each team member complete the round first and get into the People’s Chair would win and only have to do 5 burpees, while the losing team got to do 15 burpees.  Team one was winning, until there was a poor “hand-off” between YHC and Splash Back (which YHC kept trying to call Back Splash).

YHC expressed gratitude for this group and the community that supported the family during the hospitalization of a family member.  Splash Back shared that his family was going through a tough time and asked for prayers for his family and particular his children.  Grateful for this opportunity and this group!
