It has been a bit of a rough week for Dr. Seuss, but his book “Oh The Places You’ll Go” will always have a find a spot in my memory.

With Dr. Seuss in the news, along with the lessening of Covid-related restrictions, and the recent brazen move by the state of Texas to lift ALL restrictions, I started thinking about all the places downtown that I would like to visit again.

By coincidence, I was asked by Knope earlier this week to Q the Honey Badger. Dragging my feet to commit allowed Castaway to step up and Co Q with me, another coincidence as this starts off Co Q month at the Honey Badger!

Epilogue

It is important to get out of your comfort zone. Q-ing a site that I had only attended once before, and incorporating one of my least favorite things, running, was way out of my comfort zone. This was made very easy by Knope who gave me the lay of the land, Castaway who happily split the Q with me, and a group of PAX willing to be led around downtown on a cold Friday morning.

I regret that the running limited the mumble chatter because this was a group of great PAX, many of which whom I have never worked out with before and many of which I had not seen in a while. We did learn where Johnny Dramas were invented and why Coxwain moved out of downtown.

Downtown Durham is great. I certainly miss that scene. The DPAC, DBAP, American Tobacco, the bars, the restaurants,  etc.   I was so inspired this morning that the M and I hit up Mateos tonight, and as usual, we were not disappointed.

Until next time in the Gloom.
