The morning started with 3 pax for a little ruck EC. If you’ve not tried rucking–don’t! It’s horrible! I thought 45# sounded fine because I thought it was all about the legs. Turns out its as much about the back as anything. I asked about the pain in the middle of my upper back and the experienced ruckers said you get used to it. Well, Christopher Walken’s character in the Deer Hunter got used to Russian Roulette; doesn’t mean that’s something I want to do either! Take the advice this fool refused and start with a lighter weight if you’re going to give rucking a try. Your back will thank you.

You’ve heard it said Q what you hate to do. I realized yesterday how much hate isometric exercises, so there was plenty during our 61 minutes of no running today. I’ll also add there was essentially no rest this morning. We kept moving; our 10 counts were Hillbillies.

10 merkins, partner alt shoulder touches, switch every 10 merkins til 100 cumulative.
20 LBCs, partner holds feet 6”, switch every 20 LBCs til 200 cumulative.
30 squats, partner low squat hold, switch every 30 squats until 300 cumulative.

Then we worked our way up the deck.

Partner 1 planks while other bear crawls up. Partner 2 planks at top while partner 2 bears crawls to catch up.
Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

Partner 1 does side squats while partner 2 broad jumps up. Partner 1 broad jumps to catch up while partner 2 does side squats. Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

Ab wave of fire: hold feet 6” off the ground. PAX do 1 v-up sequentially, then 2, 3.

Partner 1 does table top while partner 2 crab walks up. Partner 1 crabs to catch up while partner 2 does that table top. Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

Partner 1 does squats while partner 2 lunges up. Partner 1 lunges to catch up while partner 2 does squats. Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

Ab wave of fire: hold feet 6” off the ground. PAX did 5 LBCs sequentially, then another round with 10 LBCs.

Partner 1 does traveling burpees while partner 2 does burpees. Partner 1 does travel burpess to catch up while partner 2 does burpees top. Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

Partner 1 does broad jumps while partner 2 does star jumps. Partner 1 broad jumps to catch up while partner 2 does star jumps. Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

Ab wave of fire: hold plank. PAX did 5 plank jacks sequentially, then another round with 10 LBCs.

Partner 1 does backpedal while partner 2 does burpees. Partner 1 does travel backpedal to catch up while partner 2 does burpees at top. Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

Partner 1 does backpedal while partner 2 does squats. Partner 1 does travel backpedal to catch up while partner 2 does squats at top. Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

Partner 1 does bear crawled while partner 2 does SSH. Partner 1 does bear crawled to catch up while partner 2 does SSH at top. Partners get 10 burpees together then Hillbillies till all in.

I will not swear to the accuracy of this BB after the first four rounds of the deck. I grossly underestimated the time and had to go with the flow. All I can say for sure is we followed the same pattern and made it to the top of the deck! I believe there were several of us that would have gladly accepted a little running at any point today, but when I say no running….
