Musical Monkey Humpers

September 5, 2018

WHEN: 09/05/2018
QIC: Malware
PAX: Stop Drop and Roll, Harbaugh, Foghorn Leghorn, Slug, Hightower, Papa, Mate, Virgo, Malware

3 PAX met up early for a Carve Your Own Pumpkin Adventure Trail Run. Covered with sweat and spider webs, we met up with 6 PAX to get started.

Warm Up:

  • SSH
  • IWs
  • Good Mornings
  • WMHs
  • Free Stretch

The Thang:

-Mosey to the square parking lot for burpees at the corners. Run to first corner, 14 burpees. Run to second corner, 13 burpees. All the way down to 1 burpee for a total of 104 burpees and a few laps.

-Mosey to the back BB court for Musical Monkey Humpers, done to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by The Tokens. Rules for the song:

  • Every “a-weema-weh” is a monkey humper
  • When you hear the word “lion” sprint across the BB court and back
  • When not sprinting or monkey humping, gorilla crawl around the track

This works out to about 64 monkey humpers, 3 sprints, and some gorilla crawls in just under 3 minutes. Unfortunately, it was far too dark to see what must have been a ridiculous sight.

-Alternate planks, BTTW, and laps around the track until time for Mary

Mary:

  • LBCs
  • Flutter kicks
  • V-up roll up
  • 8 count burpees
  • 5 merkin ring of fire
  • Shoulder taps
  • Cool down lap
  • And something Foghorn Leghorn called which must have been so difficult that I blocked it out of my brain

COT:

Half is given. Half is claimed

We must be grateful for the gifts we have been given, and we must use our gifts to stake our own claim on our lives, our bodies, and our communities.

Each of us was given the gift of F3 by whoever first brought us out. Each of us claimed a stake in the organization when we chose to post that second time. Every time we post, Q, do a second or third F event, encourage a brother, write a backblast, or do some EC we are expanding our claim and expanding the value of the gift we will give to those who we invite.

I hope we all take this mindset into our workouts and maintain this mindset into our days. We would never have made it without the gifts we were given. We should live in a state of constant gratitude. But we are only living half a life until we use these gifts and build upon them by going beyond what was given.

We were all given a beautiful morning. Nine men laid claim to the day at Conjunction Junction.
