QIC: Bitcoin
PAX: Sweatervest, Misery, Crabcake, Bells, Baggins, Sawyer, Virginia Slim, Pancake, Dial Up, Crimson, Two-Ply

Since YHC turned 50 last month (July 9) I’ve been seeking some respect. Since it’s important to give respect to get it, I shared with the PAX a R-E-S-P-E-C-T workout that was a modified version of one I led at TBL a few weeks back.

Warm Up
SSH
Willie Mays Hayes
Imperial Walker
Hillbilly
Arm Circles, forward and reverse
Slow Merkin
Crimson was late for the Warm Up. I hope he’s still contemplating how he let down the group.

The Thang
The conceit, if it wasn’t already clear, was to execute a series of exercises inspired by the letters R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

R: Run
Mosey to the bottom of the hill. Run to the top, 10 merkins, run down. Run to the top, 5 burpees, run down. Misery opined that so far YHC’s Q lacked “originality.” Such cheek.

E: Escalator
In the parking deck, starting on the 2nd floor, we ran up a flight of stairs, then did exercises, then ran up another flight, did exercises, etc. The number of reps escalated by 10 with each floor: 10 WW IIs, 20 merkins, 30 air squats, 40 LBCs, 50 overhead claps.

S: Suicides
We moseyed to where the lightposts are, near the track. Run to the first light post, do 2 8-point manmakers, then back to start line. Then 2nd post, 4 manmakers, back to start. 3rd post, 6 manmakers; 4th post, 8 manmakers.

P: Plank stuff
Low plank/high plank ring of fire, alternating between the two. Then from a plank position, what YHC likes to call Merkins With a Twist, which is basically merkins with right arm high and then left arm high, in cadence. So: 1) merkin; 2) right arm high; 3) merkin; 4) left arm high, is one rep. I think we did 6 reps. The reps were adding up by this point.

E: Elevens
In theory, this was going to be: at 1st light post, do 1 burpee and 10 merkins. At 2nd light post, 2 burpees and 9 merkins, and so on until 10 burpees and 1 merkin, adding up to 11 each time. In practice, it was getting late and we were never going to get that high. So we stopped when Dial Up finished his fourth light post.

C: “C” walks/crawls
Crab walk to the third light post, then crawl bear two light posts back, and lunge walk the third light post (though some hardy souls did the full three-post crawl bear). Then we crawled in the manner of a bear, which some simpler folks might call a “bear crawl,” out two light posts, and then back the two lights posts to the start.

T: Tunnel of love
On the grass, we lined up side by side in plank position, then one PAX at a time crawled through the “tunnel” created. Every PAX went through twice and we were all good and gassed. Though Sweatervest stood up early, because apparently he thinks that being the site Q gives him special privileges. Very presumptuous.

Mary
American Hammer
NOT Flutter Kicks, because YHC doesn’t like them and it was YHC’s party

No announcements or prayer requests. YHC took us out with some non-denominational gratitude expression. Thanks to all for coming out in the gloom on a Monday morning and giving me a chance to lead. I will confess that hearing the “respect!” after my name in the COT has not gotten old (even though I have). Hopefully I’ll be hearing it for many years to come. Aye!
