After enduring Ironpax at the Skunk AO for the month of September it seemed appropriate to also do an Iron John workout. Part 1 was completed the previous Monday It was time for the conclusion of the story.

Warm-up

For those that may have missed part 1 we did a recap fo the story during Warm-up:

• SSH (18)
• Imperial Walkers (12)

1812 was when GRIMM’S FAIRY TALES published Iron John though the story is much older. So we started the tale back to a prince pushes his gold ball around the yard. With a basketball we replicated the process by kicking the ball to a random pax member to pick the next warm-up activity which included:

• Willie Maze Haze (10)
• Michael Phelps (10)
• Slow Merkins (5)
• Slow Squats (5)

The story continued that the gold ball landed in the cage of the wild man aka Iron John. The prince is scared and runs off.  The Pax moseyed to the track to continue the tale.

The Thang

The story continued that the prince comes back to the cage to ask for his gold ball back but the wild man says the boy needs to first unlock him from the cage. The key is hidden in the boys parents room, he grabs it from under his mom’s pillow and runs back to the wild man to release him.

• The pax completes a lap around the track to replicate the boy running away

Back on the field we learn that when the prince uses the key to unlock the wild man he hurts his finger:

• The pax complete finger tip Merkins (10)

The prince releases the Wild Man from the cage and decides to run away in the forest with him.

• The pax completes another lap around the track

The wild man gives the prince a job to watch over the pond all day that has many treasures. The prince is told not to touch the water. But the boy touches the water. Not good.

• 10 burpees

The wild man gives the prince another chance. Yet again the boy touches the water. Double not good.

• 10 burpees
• 10 manmakers

The wild man gives the prince another chance. Yet again the boy touches the water. Triple not good.

• 10 burpees
• 10 manmakers
• 10 russian manmakers  (so do 1 manmaker then at the top squat hold while you go side to side for 10 single count hammers)

The prince knows he screwed up after the third time and tries to hide his hair which has turned to gold after touching the magic water.

• The pax circled up for howling monkey humpers 10 reps each person as the rest hid their face in a monkey humper position

The prince is banished from the magic land from the wild man as punishment for our third felony.

• The pax completes another lap around the track

The wild man is kind however and tells the prince that because he is pure in heart even though he screwed up he can shout the name of Iron John if he ever needs help in the new land. So the pax lined up in the field with 1 member as the timer for the exercise by running to the goal post screaming out “Iron John” and returning before the next pax went. Here were the exercises in between screams:

• merkins
• squats
• hammers
• wide grip merkins
• prisoner squats
• LBCs
• diamond merkins
• jump squats

The story continues that the prince goes off to war in his new country. After shouting for help he receives armor and horses from Iron John for battle.

• The pax completes another lap around the track

The prince is victorious in his battle and goes off as the humble mysterious knight. The pax mosey back to the flag.

Mary

The king wants to reward the mysterious knight so he throws a party and then throws out the prize of his daughter’s hand in marriage for the person who catches the golden apple at the party. The pax circled up and kicked the “golden” basketball to random pax members for the following Mary:

• LBCs
• WWIIs
• Plank Jacks
• ABCs

The prince catches the golden apple, marries the princess, and returns home to his family. And his hairy mentor, Iron John turns into a normal-looking dude. Apparently, he was under a spell that the pure-hearted prince was able to break through his actions.
