WHEN: 03/05/2022

ME HEADCOUNT: 10
COFFETERIA HEADCOUNT: 10

YHC’s 2.0 Splits was eager to pick up the Romper Room Q today and proposed a St. Patrick’s Day theme. A little early, but early bird on the Q sheet gets the pot o’ gold.

Pleased to have four families represented for a total of 10. Everyone had a great time, by all reports.

YHC put together a playlist to accompany the festivities, mostly popular songs by Irish-born artists with a few Irish standards thrown in.

  • Beautiful Day – U2
  • O’Sullian’s March – The Chieftans
  • Molly Malone – The Dubliners
  • I’m Shipping Up to Boston – Dropkick Murphys
  • The Limerick Rake – The Pogues
  • Whiskey in the Jar – Metallica
  • The Boys are Back in Town – Thin Lizzy
  • The Boxer – Carbon Leaf
  • Wild Night – Van Morrison
  • Ode to My Family – The Cranberries
  • Danny Boy – Celtic Women

Splits led the warm-up, then we moseyed to the rock pile.

PAX advised to grab two rocks that could be held in one hand.

Spelled out G.R.E.E.N.

  • Goblet Squat
  • Rainbow Rocks – With one rock, hold arms straight out and and hand rock back and forth overhead – Hat tip to Vice for this one
  • Elf on the Shelf
  • Eagle Wings – Like Bat Wings, but holding rocks
  • Nolan Ryan – Just to get the grown-ups ready in case stuff gets real at the pub

Then we grabbed two medium sized rocks and moseyed to grass field for a game of Capture the Gold, a la Capture the Flag. Medium-sized rocks were the gold. Halfback and Awesome Baby and their 2.0s were the winners after a heated contest.

Next we paid tribute to St. Patrick driving the snakes from Ireland. All but one PAX low crawled or bear crawled while a PAX with a St. Patrick staff lunge walked until they caught up with a snake and tapped them with the staff. That PAX then did five burpees and became the new St. Patrick.

Splits then led modes of travel across the field – Leprechaun Walk (aka Duck Walk) then Rainbow Jumps (aka Broad Jumps) back. Then we had time for one more round of St. Patrick Snakes before moseying back for

MARY

  • Splits led Shamrock Leg Lifts, where PAX made triangles with their feet a la three points of a shamrock.
  • Then Rainbow Scissor Kicks – Legs in the air, scissor kick while bringing legs down, then scissor kick while bringing them back.
  • Finished with 20 Leprechaun Jacks (aka Smurf Jacks)

COT

After considerable deliberation, landed on Patriot for Halfback’s 5yo 2.0. YHC took us out with prayer of thanksgiving for our families.

MOLESKIN

Good time was had by all, and I think grownups at least broke a decent sweat. Great time at donuteria at Duck Donuts as usual. Please check out Romper Room if you’ve never been or haven’t been in a while! Everyone leaves in high spirits, great bonding time with the 2.0s and great way to start your weekend off with positive energy. Aye!
