YHC finds it hard to drive by the Tobacco Road AO (less than a half mile from his house) every Thursday morning for other sites, whether they be non-sanctioned Basketball or other F3 sites, but was committed to making it out to the OCL this morning. With the theme of Basketball, the Gymnasium at Rashkis that YHC used to supervise, and nostalgically recounting the countless summer days YHC played basketball on the hardcourts…YHC came ready to hoop!
YHC was excited to see TB and Foghorn Leghorn in his sweet Tesla, and we did a fellowship paced Mosey around the School.

The Pax brought coupons to the basketball court to integrate into three circuits:
Circuit 1 – Mikan Drill 30 seconds (alternating left hand, right hand lay ups), while the other Pax did AMRAP Shoulder presses and Bent over rows. We did 4 cycles of these, and on the last cycle had to pay penalty burpees based on how many layups we missed as a team. The result was 10 penalty burpees.
Circuit 2 – Free throws (as many makes as possible in 60 seconds), while the other stations were bicep curls and dips. On the third circuit, we had a goal of 20 makes as a group and had to do the difference in burpees. The result was 8 burpees.
Circuit 3 – Full Court lay ups (as many makes as possible in 60 seconds), while the other stations were weighted lunge walk and kettle bell swings. The result was a super exhausted 3 burpees.

COT
There was discussion about the declining attendance trends at certain AOs. No determinations or recommendations made, but something to monitor and motivate us to keep showing up and trying to bring others out. We all acknowledged how the secret sauce to this whole thing is the community, fellowship and inspiration we provide (mostly unintentionally) to others and how lonely, almost demoralizing it can be to be doing a solo Q.
In that light we had a love fest of Appomattox and all the great things his presence has brought to this community and how he has brought “it” so consistently through having a child, working through his graduate school, job search, and dissertation and all the stressors that each of those entail. Praying for and wishing him and his family the best in his transition to Newport News and thanks for the inspiration (and History lessons!).
Always honored to lead! Aye!
