YHC was short on sleep but riding a high after taking in the Canes’ 5-0 thrashing of the loathsome Capitals the previous night.
The 2.0 agreed to tag along this morning, as he is on Spring Break and had the luxury of going back to bed.
We arrived early to set the stage for the Easter-themed ME, then trotted back to the hood to accompany the FNG to his first post.
A good crowd had already gathered a few minutes early, raring to go. But YHC had a debt to settle before starting the warm-up. WAY back on Feb. 11, YHC foolishly bet 16 Seed 20 burpees that UNC would beat Virginia in basketball. As we now know full well, the college basketball gods were set on redeeming UVa. after, you know, the 16 Seed thing. So Carolina lost, YHC owed burpees. Told 16 Seed would pay up at our next post together. Somehow that took two months. But you know what they say: Tar Heels always pay their debts. Or is that Lannisters? Whatever, YHC did 20 burpees as the PAX looked on. Props to Bellhop, Houdini and maybe one or two others who jumped in for a few sympathy burpees.

The 2.0 and I had hidden 18 plastic Easter eggs in the wooded area by the parking lot, each containing an exercise and rep count. One PAX went on the hunt while the rest did an exercise while waiting: burpees, SSH, merkins, high knees, plank hold, low squat hold

As it turned out, we completed the 18th exercise (after sending a few reinforcements to find the last egg) with 30 seconds left, just enough time to mosey back to the shovel flag for COT. Sometimes things work out.

Brick informed the PAX that he and the M will be purchasing a home in Hillsborough and will be moving there in May. We will definitely miss him in SoDu, but our loss is Hillsborough’s gain. Coming to a Northern Province AO soon! Congrats to him and the M for taking this big step.
Brick also announced that YHC had been nominated to replace him as co-site Q for The Pirhana. It will be an honor.

Castaway makes the fourth resident of Audubon Park to join our thing. He claims to have enjoyed himself. 🙂 On the way home, he noted that the Castaway name is rather fitting, as he has traveled all over – Chapel Hill to San Francisco to St. Lucia to India and various other points – before settling in Durham with M and 2.0s. Here’s hoping that F3 becomes a meaningful part of his life as it has for so many of us.
