Before diving into the BB, I want to pontificate about F3 mission and how important it can be to thoughtfully consider its purpose beyond exercise.

F3’s mission is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership. I’ve been challenging myself to consider this mission during my Qs. I’ll confess that I’ve lead plenty of beat downs which I only thought about the first F. Can you relate? We all know there are 3 Fs and I suspect we all partake in each to some degree, but are we being purposeful about it? I think it’s fair to say there’s room for improvement.

For example, this morning I asked the pax to name the 5 things required of a F3 workout. We did not get COT; it’s the most frequently missed BTW. I can’t recall a beatdown not ending with a COT, but we struggle to remember it when asked. It’s beneficial to consider why we do what we do. COT, for example, is an opportunity to acknowledge that there is something greater than any one of us. F3 isn’t concerned if you call him the Sky Q, Allah, Jehovah, Yahweh, or Jesus. Personally, I call on the name of Jesus for “there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” If you don’t know Jesus, I’d love to tell you about him and what he did for us all.

Considering these small things will have an impact. Recently, I sent DMs through Slack to some pax I’d not seen in a while. Some went without a reply. Some replies shared they have been posting at site I’ve not been to in a long while. Others confessed they were on an extended fartsack streak. All replies expressed appreciation for my reaching out.

Here’s one DM I sent.

Yo bro- where you been? Can’t remember last time I saw you in the gloom. You okay?

This particular HIM shared a list of hardships all piled into a 12 month time period. I call him a High Impact Man (HIM) because he’s been caring for others’ needs before his own during an extended period of tribulation. He closed by apologizing for dumping it all on me. Here was my reply.

Please don’t apologize to me for sharing your grief. I’m here for you brother. Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. Want to take take a run and/or visit over some coffee?

We met for a run and had a great visit over a couple cold ones. Although he’s been posting with Churham for years, there wasn’t much outreach when he went MIA. He made it clear how much it meant to him to I reached out. I’m thankful for his earnest reply. It turns out we think and feel similarly about important stuff, despite our having exceptionally different life experiences. It’s hard to be honest when asked how we’re doing. Seems like we’ve all been trained to offer meaningless tribble like “good, just crazy busy” when asked how we’re doing. Tclaps for the courage to be vulnerable!

For some, F3 may not be more than an exercise group and that’s okay. Remember another of the 5 requirements of a F3 workout is being open to all men. You’ll get out what you put in. If you’re still reading, I want to challenge you to look at some back blasts from 12+ months ago and reach out the pax you’ve not seen. There’s some one who would really appreciate you taking the initiative.
