In a pre-blast, Happy Gilmore announced the Q with something like, “are you as tough as a Midwesterner?” That got YHC thinking about farmer carries…and a Q concept was born. 5 PAX arrived early for an EC 5k run and 15 PAX participated in the Main Event.

THE THANG
YHC had stashed two 25 lb plates in a planter at the southern end of the alley. PAX soon learned that they would split into dueling groups, each taking up camp at opposing sides of the long alley. Group 1 would select and send an emissary carrying the two 25 lb plates to Group 2, delivering a message with an exercise they should perform (the messenger joining them). In turn, Group 2 send their own messenger back to Group 1 with the plates and a painful exercise to perform OYO and AMRAP…so on and so forth for the next ~30 minutes.

Memorable Moments
– Low Tide making the PAX guess the exercise by singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” and all joining in (while performing Freddie Mercuries) until the next messenger arrived.
– Coxswain going rogue and making Group 2 play tag while waiting (Group 1 looking down alley: “What the heck are they doing down there?”)
– Duck, Duck, Goose (using Duck Walk to travel, otherwise Low Squat hold)
– Dial Up taking his time to deliver the message, extending Group 1’s pain as long as possible…

All completed final exercise together – a mashup of Bear Crawls and suicides (Bearicides) – where PAX Bear Crawled from one set of planters to the next, ran back to the previous planter and back up to where they were, Bear Crawl to next set, run back to one prior and up to ground gained, etc. until arrive at other end of alley.
