We met on the other side of the parking lot in the gloom with the intention of being better neighbors and not blocking the Junction’s by now familiar early morning garbage truck pickup. The flag was moved to a new spot also. Exciting changes indeed for the AO.
Warmup:
WMH, Good Mornings, SSH, Slow Merkins, maybe a couple of others?
The Thang:
I was searching the Exicon for something new to try and randomly came up with the idea of running a workout which would only have exercises beginning with the letter S – thinking that a letter themed workout would be appropriate for Conjunction Junction. It didn’t quite workout like that so I decided to bookend it with the two letter Rs, with the alphabetical proximity as my excuse.
We started from the warmup with Route 66, which IMO worked pretty well. The idea is run to a location and then stop a total of 11 times with the burpee count starting at 1 and increasing by 1 at every stop. We lapped the field and the back of the middle school which brought us nicely to the Pit.
In the Pit, Steps and Squats were the beginning of our S journey. Foghorn Leghorn suggested the Sips instead of Dips, however that would have felt like cheating to me. -5 points for Griffindor for the suggestion.
After that we moseyed to the front of the middle school for the next S, Santa’s Ladder. Picking a point up the parking lot and then running there to do ten burpees, running back to the start, nine burpees until we got to the number six. We then switched to merkins, 5, run, 4, run, 3, run, 2, and well then a run, then 1. It’s a this point the exercise seemed like it was done however apparently an F3 brother called Santa (hence the name) asked if it was done at this point, and the Q of the day pointed out that it would be unequal so the order reverses. One burpee, run, to five burpees. Slug was at the front every time in the run, which eventually provoked TriCurious to action. They went head to head while the rest of the Pax seemed happy to watch.
After the burpees, we started with 6 merkins, run between, up to ten merkins. Now we had achieved balance.
And the next exercise was a test of balance, a new one I’d found called surfer burpees. 360 jump in the air, land and a burpee, all together, five each way. On reflection this seems like one that I’m not likely to place into many workouts in the future.
We finished up with 10 star jumps, all together, and then moseyed up to the flag for closeout where we did ring of fire with each Pax doing five merkins around the circle.
COT:
Nothing specific was mentioned.
Moleskin:
Grateful once again to this group and the fellowship it brings. It’s given me a grounded feeling and something which I feel helps me build both my leadership skills and probably more importantly my ability to follow others as they lead.
Aye!
