TBL has been fun this year. It’s always been fun, but the latest flavor iteration has become something I look forward to each week. Dark, cold, and early, we convene for EC to “meet ourselves,” euphemistically referring to kicking our own asses with sandbags. Then it’s a business-as-usual main event. And then you’ve earned some coffeeteria at Panera. If you’re not doing F3 Saturday (and don’t have a reasonable excuse), you’re wrong, whether it is Battering Ram, Romper Room, or some of the aforementioned versions of TBL. It’s a different speed than workouts during the week, but you still get as much as you want, if not more; there is something about the weekend, working out in the light, and the coffeeteria that creates a nice time to reflect and connect with others.

It’s been particularly fun for me this year because my 2.0, Braveheart, is now old enough to attend. By attend, I mean physically be present and mock cadence count; I do not mean complete all exercises in a workout – he mostly just runs around and asks others, “Hey, are you going to Panera?” That’s not all, though, my bro-in-law, Boo Boo, has started to get after it with F3 (he’s always been known to get after it, but has now started dosing some weekly F3 goodness into his diet). So he and I decided to tagteam today’s Q to get him his VQ under his belt, and what better conditions than sub-freezing temps, ice-sparkling fields, and snow-tipped pull up cargo nets?

Anyway, it is a reminder that wherever you are in your F3 journey, there is more to discover about it, more to share, and more to celebrate. Headlocking others can give you a new lens to view the F3 experience, and it is fulfilling in a different way. The PAX may change, but the song remains the same, and here is how the tune went today:

Track action: sprint 200 meters, jog 200 meters, 20 squats, 20 merkins; wait until all finished and repeato X3.

Playground: Reverse pyramid pull ups from 10 to 1, while partner executes different animal movements: gorilla hop, bear crawl, crawl bear, crab walk, bunny hop. 10 partner squats to finish.

Field: Tunnel of Love, first time through reguLAR, then second time through backwards.

Mary: Russian Hammer, Flutter Kick, Box Cutter, Ski Abs, each X25

Prayers to Band Camp’s Aunt, embarking on a chemotherapy regimen.
