With an upcoming trip to Kentucky, YHC educated himself on some “fun facts” (Thank you, Google) about the Bluegrass State. The pre-ME disclaimer was given and included the caveat that facts could not be verified and no objections or questions could be raised during ME.

Warm-Up:

Fun Fact #1: KY was the 15th state to join the Union (June 1, 1792)

  • 1 lap around the big lot
  • 15 obligatory reps of the following
    • SSH, SmurfJacks, Arm Circles, Hillbilly
    • WMH x 10, followed by stretching whatever was needed OYO
  • 1 lap around the big lot, ending up by the picnic tables

ME:

Fun Fact Follow-Up Quiz: Can PAX name the first 5 colonies-turned-states? Answer: Not quite

  • Squat Hold while PAX pondered the question.
  • Each incorrect answer was followed up with a “celebration of effort”:
    • “Massachusetts” – “Ascending Testicles” (see Exicon) – 10 rep low hold, 10 rep mid hold, 2-10counts in balls to wall position
    • “Rhode Island” – 10x 8-count Body Builders
    • “Virginia” – 10x Inchworms
  • One correct answer (“Pennsylvania”)
    • Other possible answers: DE, PA, NJ, GA, CN

Fun Fact #2: The KY Derby is the oldest continuously held horse race in the country.

  • Run to track
  • Squat hold while YHC shared additional fun facts on the oldest / youngest jockeys.
  • “Catch me if you can”
    • PAX paired up. 1 PAX completed 5 burpees while the other mosey’d backwards around the track. PAX finished burpees then sprinted to partner. and vice versa.
    • PAX completed 1 lap then a) picked up the 6 or b) held a squat.

Fun Fact #3: Mammoth Cave is the longest known cave in the world at 412 miles of explored routes.

PAX then explored what is would be like to navigate the cave with the following:

  • Bear Crawl Merkin x 12 + Crab Walk to the 50yd line
  • Mosey to end of track straight away, then a) picked up the 6 or b) held reverse plank
  • Lunge walk to peak of turn, walk to the next straight away
  • Repeato (eg Mammoth cave is the 2nd oldest tourist attraction behind Niagara Falls)

Fun Fact #4: Post-It Notes were invented and manufactured in KY.

PAX explored the sticky situation with isometric holds while each PAX individually ran to track house and back.

  • Holds completed: Low Plank, Russian Hammer Hold, 6 inches, L/R plank, Superman

Fun Fact #5: KY is the horse capital of the world

  • Mission Objective: PAX should leave AO walking like a baby horse
  • Enter: “Mucho-Leg-O”
    • 2 rounds, 12 reps each – Narrow, Regular, Wide Squats; Bonnie Blairs

Mary:

20 LBCs IC in honor of Nickleback completing the workout with a 20lb ruck sack.

COT:
