Back-to-school beatdown

September 1, 2018

WHEN: 09/01/2018
QIC: Stinky Pete
PAX: I don’t know, but a ridiculous amount!

Introduction:

The Sunnyside workout was out for most of the summer. Through a combination of family vacations, insane humidity, rain, and general summer laziness, kids and dads weren’t on board for “early” rising on their weekends. Turnout was, uh, greater than expected. I figured with all the new faces and multitude of kids there must be another group meeting at the same time.  Nope, this was our Pax for the day. Luckily I planned with stations…

Well, I’m just going to do my best with this one!

Warmup:

SSH IC x 15

Skittles-led flossing warmup IC x 20ish

Forward arm circles IC x 10, reverse arm circles IC x 10

Schneebly-led merkins SC x 10

Warm up lap around the AO to learn the stations

Main Event:

Now I taught the 2.0’s the meaning of the 3F’s in F3.

2nd F: Pick a partner – size doesn’t matter. Learn your partner’s name, age, F3 name, and 3 facts about him/her.

1st F:

#1

Do 20 big-boy sit-ups with your partner, taking turns. Run a lap. Do 10 merkins each. Run a lap. Do 5 burpees each. Run a lap. Floss or SSH while waiting for the PAX to finish.

#2

– Ping-Pong ball toss from one partner into the small cup the other partner is holding. Take turns. Each individual will do 2 burpees if successful, 5 if unsuccessful. Run to next station. (this was close to impossible, so perfect for dads in the future but too tough for the 2.0’s).

– 5 pull-ups for adults, kids need to get across the Monkey bars. Do burpees as above. Run to next station.

– each partner attempts to land a Frisbee into a hula hoop. Do burpees as above. Run to next station.

– kick a soccer ball into a small goal. Do burpees as above. Run to next station.

3rd F: I ‘m a Cub Scout leader. I planned to have each partner pair run around and pick up 5 pieces of trash prior to COT. This workout was kind of a cluster and so I’ll save this for a later day.

Mary:

Wet grass, so I improvised some standing exercises. Imperial Walkers IC x 10. Bobby Hurley SC x 10.

COT:

Everyone introduces their partner.

We named about a 1,000 kids – I lost count.

Moleskin:

Welp, today overwhelmed my organizational skills and I got a little fortunate with the workout I planned. Things were a little chaotic, but with that many kids, especially young ones, that’s probably as good as it gets. Hopefully everyone had fun today. I suspect as sports games start in the coming weeks numbers will return to a more manageable number, and maybe we’ll get a head count prior in the future to help out the QIC.

What I was going to say, roughly: “Each new year brings a fresh start. Be the person you always wanted to be. Study harder. Be kinder. Be more helpful. Train harder. Aye!”
