And Potter Said “Meh”

July 27, 2019

WHEN: 07/27/2019
QIC: Cosmo
PAX: Beano [EC only], Malware, Potter [2.0], Skeeter [2.0], Nightshift, Cheesesteak, Rocky [2.0], Billboard, Franco [2.0], Flippy [2.0], Scapula, Castaway, Catskill, Dean Wormer

The last two times YHC posted at TBR, it went like this:

Last time: YHC had the Q, and no one but Castaway, who rode with me from SoDu, showed. It actually wound up being for the best, as we knocked out a ruck workout we had planned to do post-ME, which probably would have been miserable. And we also rucked through our old college stomping grounds swapping stories. Good times. Still, no one likes getting stood up.

Sad trombone

Time before that: Potter, Qing his one-year F3 anniversary workout, had us hop up the stairs at The Forest Theatre ad nauseam, not to mention the 10-minute burpee session. Calves were totally shot the next day.

So YHC’s goal for today was to make up for the former and avenge the latter. Turns out only succeeded on one of those fronts.

Dean Wormer led 7 of us for a 90-minute EC ruck in ideal conditions. Among topics covered: Expensive GoRuck gear, college football player dietary habits, Gen. George S. Patton and whether any of us are worthy of wearing garments with his words stitched into them, Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom and how it negatively impacted Castaway’s childhood.

A total of 14, including 5 2.0s, gathered for the ME.

Mosey to forest theater for what I hoped would be a good smokefest for Potter and the rest of us
7s with jump lunge at the top (one each leg) and diamond merkins at the bottom – run down and bunny hop up
After this was over and YHC, hands on knees, was catching his breath, Potter came up and said “Hey, Cosmo, when are you going to get your revenge on me?”

Touche.

Appropriately put in my place, we went to 11s with 10 jump squats at the top, 1 merkin at the bottom, and so on – just running up and downstairs. Got to about 8 merkins before started to run out of time. Did one last round of five jump squats at the top and 20 merkins at the bottom, AYG back to the top.

I thought I saw Potter sprinting up the stairs backwards while yawning.

Catskill announced, ICYMI, that he has taken over as site Q at The Jag. Congrats, brother! He invited any and all to sign up to Q. Get on it! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-LO2EOD0I4cw-cu0_9wlYrFYldTjUQAS6g9XrvKPnjI/edit#gid=0

Dean Wormer asked for prayers for Lars, a friend of his and Mueller’s who is battling cancer.

YHC took us out.

MOLESKIN

Lots of fun out there today. Though I know not everyone’s cup of tea, I’m a fan of 2.0-friendly workouts on Saturdays. (Don’t forget about Romper Room launching Aug. 3 at TBL!) Great bonding experience for families and really the whole F3 community. Particularly appreciated Nightshift giving Rocky just a few nudges here and there to help him stay engaged. And thought once again about the next generation of F3 guys, like Rocky, who are going to have way too cool names when they hit adulthood. Perhaps renaming should take place at 18? Throwing it out there.

Honor to lead as always. Appreciated the enthusiastic turnout. SYITG!
