A Bump In The Rope

February 25, 2019

WHEN: 02/25/2019
QIC: Knope
PAX: 16 Seed, Awesome Baby, Barksdale, Beano, Bell’s, Botched, Brick, Boucher, Cheesesplint, Dr. Phil, Food Lion, Harbaugh, Leverage, Loonie, MLP, OPEC, Pedialyte, SONAR, Sooner, Soybean, Knope

In advance of today’s Q, I requested some help with coupons. Hat tip to Beano, Botched, Boucher, OPEC, Pedialyte and Soybean for answering the call. I’ve looked forward to this workout for a while. I’ve tried this one before on a full size track to mixed results. The shorter track at The Eagle worked much better.

Although 21 PAX showed up (3 rolled in from EC) prepared, YHC felt a bit un-caffeinated. We had an FNG, and even after the discussion about the disclaimer a few weeks ago, YHC almost forgot it. YHC was also off on a count or two, fumbled the explanation of The Thang, and nearly missed my time for Mary. Argh, on with the show though…

Warm Up

The Thang

After counting off into squads of 5, Squad 1 picked up coupons, and everyone moseyed to the track. Once at the track, each squad found a spot on the track, equidistant-ish from each other, and were given an exercise to perform AMRAP until they were relieved by the previous Squad with the coupons. Squad 1 was the initial timer, carrying a coupon (or two) locked out over head to Squad 2. They took the place of Squad 2, doing an exercise, Squad 2 took the coupon(s), carrying them to Squad 3, repeato. The exercises performed around the track were:

Merkins

Air Dramas

Box Cutters

Burp Jacks

After one full cycle, we ran a lap, and back to start cycle 2.

Several of the squads did these in cadence, some went OYO, levels of mumble chatter varied per Squad. I like this workout for this reason. It gives some new PAX an opportunity to lead on a smaller stage, or allows for some 2nd F as part of the Thang.

Beano gave me a gentle nudge on the time, so we moseyed back to StartEx for Mary. With a shortened Mary, it was time for an audible. In YHC’s squad there was some mumblechatter about compound exercises, and that was the inspiration for one of my favorite compound exercises in Mary.

Mary

Right Legged Steinl – 30 Count High Plank Hold, 30 Count Low Plank Hold, 5 Merkins, 10 Right Legged Peter Parker/Mt. Climber/Parker Peters. There should have been 5 additional Merkins to end, but YHC screwed up.

Left Legged Steinl – Same as above, but with the left leg. Didn’t want anyone to be off balance.

COT

No announcements, no prayer requests. YHC took us out.

NMS

I was thanked after the workout for Qing. The thanks was appreciated, but I feel its an honor to lead a work out; that I should thank the PAX for trusting me to give you a workout that challenges you, no matter your experience/fitness/beast level. This wasn’t my best Q, with too many faux pas throughout, but I hope it gave the PAX a good start to the week, and some ideas for the future. SYITG.
