The Great North welcomed 6 Pax to ruck EC and a Shake It Fly By 5K. Tater Tot advertised a “surprise” if 5 HC’d to the ruck, and what a surprise it was (a 60# sandbag for the ruck)! I was expecting muffins, but hey, a sandbag will do. Pace was steady and the mumblechatter was heavy, just the payoff you expect form the North Durham crew. A windy yet temperate morning then brought 20 pax to Hillandale Elementary for the Main Event, where the programming called for some heavy cadence count exercises to kick us off and then a buffet of various travel modalities and intermittent pain – death by streetlight – over on Chubbs’ Hill.
Slow cadence count on way down, explode upon 4th count:
- 20 merkins
- 20 lunges (10 each leg)
- 20 WWIIs
- 20 Jump Squats
Over to Chubbs’ Hill for Death by Streetlight:
- 20 Tuck jumps, bunny hop to first light, 10 tuck jumps, bunny hop back
- 20 smurf jacks, backwards run to second light, 10 smurf jacks, backwards run back
- 20 diamond merkins, broad jump to third light (yikes), 10 diamond merkins, broad jump back
- One-legged hop to first light, switch legs to second, switch legs to third, switch legs to fourth.
- Buddy carry to top, 10 partner squats, buddy carry back. Switch it up.
