Hope sprang eternal this AM at Hooker Field. 17 PAX showed up to get the job done and kick off the weekend with a beatdown, courtesy of YHC. We kept things simple today, going with some traditional programming with some new elements mixed in to keep things fresh. The framework is solid; no need to reinvent the wheel. We just pimped those wheels a little to make our muscles hurt in different ways. After a warm up and a lap we got right into it.
Dora: 100 burpees, 200 merkins, 300 squats, with a 100 yard sprint after.
Shout out to the FNGs who really showed up and showed out on this Dora. This was a long and heavy Dora, with a long sprint and oldie-but-goodie exercises that bring pain quickly. I think Juco got smoked once by FNG Cashmon and Blackball and Dean Wormer squared off in a race, I think. Not sure who won, but what a matchup!
Then we did 30 merkins jacks and a single leg bear crawl (probably 60 yards total, switching legs halfway) just to keep everyone honest. Nowhere to hide when these exercises come out of the bag. Great work by Shake It, Juco, and Moore who rocked these!
Water break intermission. I brought some Gatorade to keep the boys hydrated.
Usain Bolt Stations: Tiger Ruck (45lb. ruck) bolt (half field for everybody once I realized a full-field wouldn’t work with time, sorry Shake It); Juco Ruck (30lb. ruck) bolt, half field, KB squats, KB swings, cleans, bent over rows, upright rows, get ups, Russian Hammers, Peter Parker Peters, WWIIs, push press, mountain climbers, and maybe a few others.
The two ruck stations back-to-back were brutal. Each and every guy really stepped it up on the ruck bolts, and the Tiger Ruck (my hunter orange ruck with a Tiger patch and 45 pounds of pain) did not exactly make for a nice Saturday morning stroll.
Moleskine: Congrats to Champ, who begins a new job next week. He was tight-lipped about the particulars, but we speculated it to be a foray into young adult literature. Meet your next JK Rowling, ladies and gentlemen? We shall see!
