The workout started with YHC showing up late. I dropped my son off at sleep away camp in VA yesterday, got in late, and lost the battle with my snooze button one time too many. Pulling in at 05:30:45am or so, YHC arrived to see the PAX all circled up, doing some side shuffle hop. Last year at PumpkinWeek, by Wednesday, the PAX noticed that exercise as my go to starting warmarama exercise. YHC appreciates their attention to detail and faithfully executing my plan given my late arrival. Below is what transpired upon joining the circle.

WARMUP:
There was mumble chatter about what the penalty is when the Q shows up late, and YHC promised there would be no penalty burpees. And then we kicked it off into another round of side shuffle hop – 15 in cadence.
Willie Mays Hayes (10 tempo), Imperial Walker (10 IC), Rockette Hillbillies (10 IC), Michael Phelps (10 IC), LBACs (12 IC forward/reverse), and finally a minute merkin (slow 30 seconds down, hold 10 at the bottom, slow 30 seconds up).
THE THANG:
Siesta and Quint dutifully brought blocks to kick off PumpkinWeek with a block party!
First exercise: TopShelf – a bicep curl into an overhead press. 10 reps. Then my favorite block exercise of all: NEMO (a convoluted combination of a get up and a blockee, consisting of about 25 movements per rep). This also elicited some good chatter.
From there, we moved into Blocko City Shuffle – three sequences of 2 lunge steps forward w/OH press after each lunge, drop down into plank on the block for 5 merkins, and 5 plank jacks (single count), then a single murder bunny forward. After the 3rd round, we carried the blocks back to where we started.
Bolt 45s – squat routine with the block. 15 reps of the top half of a squat, 15 reps of the bottom half of a squat, and then 15 reps of the full range of motion.
Next up: Murder Hornet – 10 murder bunnies, followed by 10 blockees, 10 lunges with the block (total, 5 each leg), 10 sit ups with the block.
We took a break for Colt 45s (same as Bolt 45s, but doing it with a bicep curl instead of squat).
Then one more round of murder hornet, followed by redrum bunnies all the way back to the start.
At start we did Manmaker Merkins – High plank with coupon (cinders are great) laying to your right side. Perform a Merkin. Reach under your body with your left hand and drag the coupon to the opposite side of your body. Flap Jack. Repeat.
And mini-hair burners – In regular plank position with weights or coupons close at hand, push weight or coupon forward with one hand across concrete and pull it back in cadence times x reps. Rinse and repeat with the other arm.
Then it was time for Mary…with our blocks.
MARY:
U-Boats (10 IC) – laying flat on your back, block raised above your chest, 1) do a leg lift so your body is roughly in the shape a U, 2) contracting your abs, crunch the block up toward your feet, 3) lower your shoulder blades back down, 4) lower your legs back to the ground.
Frozen Heavy Freddies – 10 (tempo count freddie mercuries while holding the block overhead)
Heavy Homer to Marge – Home to marge with the block on your hips
Homer to marge with the block elevated over your chest
LBCs with the block
Alternating leg Plank jacks on the block.
Finally, we were finished with the block in time for some stretching.
bend and reach down, then walk out to downward dog, transition into cobra, then high plank for greatest stretch variations, then walk hands back in and see if you could now reach further than before.
