YHC has merged his usual birthday Q shenanigans with his interest in learning the beginnings of each site, and today, we recreated, mostly, the official Kenan Launch Q, led by one of the regions legendary OGs, @shooter. The well known Oscar Wilde quote is that "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," while we often forget the second half: "that mediocrity can pay to greatness." Hopefully this imitation showed some respect to the greatness that came before us. ( https://f3churham.com/kenan-welcome-party-sweat-equity/ )
WARMUP:
Side Shuffle Hop (20 IC), Willie Mays Hayes (10 tempo), Imperial Walker (10 IC), Michael Phelps (10 IC), Slow squats (10).
We then headed out to recreate the launch tour of the exterior of the site.
Run to Rams Head Plaza on east side of stadium, circle up. Merkin pyramid: 5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5. Going around the circle, various PAX led the count for one round.
Split into four groups and relocate the four corners of the plaza. Ten burpees, then bear-crawl to the next corner. Ten more burpees and repeat with burpees/bear-crawling until you're back in your starting corner. Then circle up in center for SSH and planks/LBCs while rest of the PAX finish.
Head toward Morrison Dorm with stop for 60-second Preacher”s Chair on side of Student Fitness Center.
Then run along pathways skirting Morrison and through the woods to the southeast side of the stadium, doing walking-lunges for the last 75 yards to the South Gate (we ran to the top of the hill, then lunge walked over to the wall mentioned next). The group stopped along the stone walls outside the South Gate for two sets of 15x Dips, the second set at a significantly slower and more difficult cadence.
Continuing our clockwise tour of the exterior of the stadium, we stopped at the railings outside the southwest gate for three sets of rows x 15, two overhand and one underhand.
Then to the amphitheater to the west of the stadium for a 50-yard crabwalk to the stone wall followed by 10x irkins, 10 x diamond irkins and 10 x step-ups.
We hopped up the stairs to the brick plaza outside Gate 3 and circled up for Mary, including two sets of bows-to-toes planks and 15 x LBC, Parker-Peters and Freddie Mercuries. (Running short on time, we limited ourselves to LBCs and Freddie Mercuries).
Then jog through the woods back to the North Gate for COT. (We went via the side walk due to maintenance/construction barriers).
ANNOUNCEMENTS / COT:
Yurt and Bumpdraft are going to Bernie Sanders the run for Malawi and everyone is encouraged to join them. Sign up even if you don't run – it's a great cause.
Prayers for Barbara, Huffy's neighbor as she continues a long recovery from a leg injury. Prayers for Spelunker's M as she recovers at home. Prayers for Yo-yo. And prayers for anyone else going through challenging times.
YHC reflected on the fellowship that keeps him coming out each day as we all push each other to get better together.
